New Norma 6 Dasher brass

I probably missed it somewhere, but what is the latest with this story? I thought it was supposed to be available by now....

Tony.

Did anyone hear anything further about the Norma Dasher brass from the Shot Show?

Why are you so certain Stan? It has been very frustrating being promised something and not seeing it, that is for sure...

things have not changed over the years,,,,people think that you can get somone else to make everything for you,,,sometimes you gotta do it yourself or it dont get done,,,,it is nearly impossible to form a ctg case with a 40* shoulder (ooo yes some will say how about the 280 AI,,,the come bak is ,,,that is way bigger neck than a 6mm and smaller base line dims on the case,,),,,I used to make BR's bak in the day when 308 basic ctg were used,,,a 30-35* degree shoulder is about the max without loosing 50% or more to colapsing the ctg shoulder down into the case body,,,,I you cant do it with custom dies and one at a time,,imagine how tuff it is in the factory with its dies running like a Singer sewing machine,,,,not trying to fault any ones efforts,,,but they have never tired it or they would not be asking the factory to do it,,,,just realize that it take a little effort and skill ,,,just those with gunsmith and shooting/reloading skills will be able to make them,,,,the way it ought to be anyhow,,,Roger

Yes I heard they were having trouble getting the 40 degree shoulder formed. I would think if they can't do it, they could make a longer bodied 6BR with a 35 degree shoulder so it would headspace. Then you wouldn't vary much from a formed case. Can't be much difference in a 35 to 40 degree shoulder in capacity. Matt

It would make more sense to just keep the 30* and make 6BRX brass, wouldn't it? No sense in going to 35* and cutting out the opportunity to sell to the BRX guys/gals. I shoot the 6BR, not the improved versions, but wouldn't running a BRX case through a Dasher FL die get you pretty close to a formed Dasher case?

I think the biggest problem would be the thicker shoulder brass becoming part of the neck, but it seems like most of you that shoot the dasher are at least skimming the necks to uniform them already. I guess another problem could be not fully forming the neck if you're using a bushing die. It seems like you'd probably want a second die for the original forming anyway, so that die wouldn't have to be a bushing die since you're going to turn the necks after anyway.

Like I said, I don't have any first-hand experience with either the Dasher or the BRX so I don't know if that's a dumb idea or not - just throwing it out there.

That sure would solve the problem of all the work. A .105 longer in the body with a .020 longer neck with even a 30 degree shoulder just trim to your chamber length if needed and shoot it. it will form without any sizing except to hold a bullet……….. jim
