NEW Nikon 6.5-24x50 Monarch

Nikon has a new side-focus Monarch that runs up to 24 power,vs. 20X for previous model). Anybody tried one of these yet? Is this serious competition for the Leupold LRT 8-25x? SWFA.com says they are expected to be in stock in two more weeks,ETA = 3/20/07).

According to Nikon they are scheduled to be release sometime in March. We have several of them on back order for customers already. It looks like they are going to be popular.

Also look for the new Bushnell Elite 4200 30mm tube, target turret, side focus 6-24x50mm that is due soon. Leupold should be looking over its shoulder 'cause the competition is catching up fast and at lower prices!

I own an 8.5-25 Leupold and a 6.5-20 Nikon. The Nikon is way better. I only wish it had 30mm tube. What size tube is the new Nikon????

Needs capless turrets for use in the field. Then it might compete w/leupold.

The 1" 6.5-20 Monarchs that I've seen came with an additional pair of tapered knobs for that type of use. I figure that the new Monarchs probably also come with them.

Been trying to get ahold of someone from Nikon for a few months now.Sent an e-mail awhile back.Had buddy of mine run down a rep from Nikon at a gun show.I did something with a Nikon Monarch 6.5-20 that I believe has never been done with a Nikon scope before.Would like to tell someone there about it.Besides, just built a new gun...And I'm a scope short:D

Donovan,

You can go to www.theopticzone.com/nikonscopes.aspx and see our prices on the new Nikon Monarchs.

This looks to be a heck of a new scope line for the $$$'s. I am very interested in the 6-24 version, but also the 4-16. I absolutely despise most all duplex reticles however becuase of their thickness. They just cover up too much target. From the looks of the Nikoplex reticle in the illustrations I have seen, it would appear that the crosshairs are very fine though. So my question is to those that have nikoplex equipped scopes, are they as fine as they appear in illustrations, or are they like a standard Leupold duplex?

The subtensions on the Monarch 6-24x50, Nikoplex are below.

Subtension at 100yards
6x .33"
24 .08"

If you have any other questions, let me know.

I'm really interested in the Nikoplex for the 4-16 model as I would opt for a target dot in the 6-24. What are the substensions on this model, and what about dot size in the target dot reticle for the 6-24. TIA

Below are the subtensions for the 4-16x42.

Nikoplex
4x .49"
16x .12"

Target Dot 6-24x50
Dot
6x 1.25"
24x .31"

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sent a few e-mails to nikon and have yet to get a reply...Been a few weeks...Wanted to let them know that I set a 1000 Yard BenchRest Worlds Record score agg and 3 club records with one of their 6.5-20 Monarchs...But no replies.......
