New NightForce NXS?

Has anyone heard that there will be a he NightForce NXS scope coming out with 1/8 adjustments and top power up to 60X? Two people told me this but I cannot find anything in forums to back this up. Thanks for any information.

Chip

I have both 1/8 and 1/4 and after a year i don't see a need for the 1/8 at 1K. It is where you hold in the box,but the clicks are better on the 1/4 adj. 60 power may be nice, but the conditions to use it maybe a couple days out of the year. The weight of the NF. is the only down side of the scope.......jim

I think they should cut 6-8 oz. from the weight would be in the ball park. I shoot 1 K benchrest so i don't plan on jumping out of a chopper or driving tent pegs with it. They need two lines of scopes target and tactical. I'm sure they could shave some ozs. and still retain the reliability ........jim

They do have two lines of scopes...the NSX series for the airplain crowd, and the BR series for us BR guys. Shave the weight from the BR series...we are not as hard on them as the tactical guys.

NF would have been lighter, and dropped the lit reticle, if they knew anything about BR to begin with.
But they actually INCREASED weight with the BR models 2oz while offering nothing over the NXS models!

The BR models are 2 oz. heaver, longer, less eye relief,5 min less elevation and a stupid lighted reticle, and they don't have side focus. But they are cheaper..........jim

All very valid comments from real time shooters.
1. Lose the lighted reticle; (sales gimmick)
2. Put your scopes on a diet. 8-12 oz. shouldn't be a problem considering you are already getting rid of the lighted reticle.
3. .250 adjustments, lots of them especially in the vertical.
4. Make the windage knob read like the elevation knob . I've got "lost" so to speak more than once on windy days where I swear I'm going to wear out the windage knob and I seem to be around the area where it goes to 5 MOA, then back down again. I get confused enough without needing to think, am I 5.75 moa rt. or 3.25 moa left?
5. I know, some of you are saying “take better notes in your log book”. That entails getting my reading glasses out, breaking position, etc. (See #4) All a general PITA and not conducive to good scores.
NIGHTFORCE, ARE YOU LISTENING?
Lloyd

Not following you 1shot.
The complaints of lit reticle were w/regard to the BR model, which should have 1/8moa click values, as it is.
The lit reticle works well in the NXS, as it is.

But both models are too heavy.
This is ONE factor influencing me to replace my NXS scopes with Mk4s, until NF changes.

Also, when you say "NIGHTFORCE, ARE YOU LISTENING?', I say to you NO THEY ARE NOT.

I don't see what all the fuss is about and although the last few posts have nothing to do with the op I guess I must stay off topic as well, I only shoot 1K BR with my BR model 12-42 NF and the AO is no problem here, I set it for the 1K target in the first shoot of the year (March) and don't touch it again usually and even if you do your not shooting prone in BR so it's not hard to turn the bell, prone is a different story ( buy the NSX then ) I have not had any problems making weight on any of my 17 lb rifles with either scopes, for the 11 lb class it would be a challenge however I have seen it done but most guys are using fixed power Leupolds and weavers. I don't particularly care for the lens caps but I like the 1/8 over the 1/4 clicks 2.5" per click at 1K is a lot 1.250" is much better the lighted retical I have to agree with you all on that one, there wasn't much thought that went into that as far as I can see and it would shave a little weight. as far as are you listening NF, I agree with Mike, NO THEY ARE NOT! at least not on here give them a call and make your complaints.
Wayne.

Oh to Chip, 1/8" adjustments have been out for sometime now but I have heard no cross talk of a 60X scope but I know just the guy that would know and he lives near me and hangs out at NF in Orofino Idaho I may just give him a call if he knows anything I will p.m you.
Wayne.

For those of us that shoot the BR model in IBS and UBR score, the NF BR model could also be fixed 40, 42 or 45. The variable is just complexity that we don't need.

To Mikecr,
Thank you for making me realize that I was focused on only my particular shooting discipline being L-R sling prone, and not looking at the needs of all shooters. If I were an active tactical shooter, needing to engage targets in limited light I can see a possible need for a lighted reticle, but I shoot on bright sunny days (and rainy ones to :-\ so again, I see no need for the lighted retied reticle and all the work, R&D manufacturing cost associated with it.). Gee that might even bring the cost down a little along with the weight issue. Also, if the scope were to be used in a tactical situation, I doubt that you would be using/needing a 36 or 42 power scope. (Low light dramatically decreases the ability so see the target at the higher powers) In regards to the .125 vs. .250 adjustments, when you are working with 2 MOA scoring rings, you hardly ever make a single .250 adjustment, more likely a 1/2 MOA, so again, the .125 adjustment is just a PITA for my application.
Thanks for making me think of the bigger picture,
Lloyd

F-Class targets are a wee bit tighter than HighPower...........but we get the drift.

It'd be nice if NF would make a BR scope that is non-illum, fixed-magnification (36X & 48X?), side-focus, .125" click 20moa per turn turrets, "normal" windage turret markings and 70moa of elevation and sell it for under $2K.

Yeah.........I'll just wait over here in the corner for that to happen. ::)

45 power fixed?? no I wouldn't want that, !000 yards,100 degrees out you would be chasing the bull all over the place, the mirage was so bad in the August championship shoot in Missoula Mt. I had to turn my 12-42 down to about 30 just to keep my eye ball from falling out of my head, but NSX turrets would be nice ;)

For those of you who think a lighted recitle is a sales gimmick, you must have never shot in the early morning shade at Raton. Mine worked quite nice.

A friend of mine is a dealer and we spoke about a new model that will be out next year. 15-55 with 1/8' adj. and a side focus. Weight is supposed to be 22 oz. Sounds like it may be just what we are looking for.
