I am new here, also from Texas.

I noticed your profile shows you are formerly from Hondo, which had to stir up the useless trivia clogging my head.

The original series "Magnum, P.I." had Higgins played by John Hillerman. Many people did not know he was from Hondo and worked with a voice coach to get away from the accent and play the roles he did.

Second bit. In the movie "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls," the african village scenes were filmed around Hondo.
