New member with a question

Most of the ballistics programs I've worked with don't ask what the bullet is made of, only how much it weighs. If you can come up with a BC you're home free.

Sorry about that but I don't mean to troll. I am trying to figure out workable weight And length and twist for 14 and 17 caliber bullets in a rifle that i have and one that I'm trying to build. The programs that I have found so far have not answered my questions and I am sure that a lot of people here make their own bullets.

The list of such metals being a short one, OP, I'm curious which of them you're considering.
Depleted uranium

Yes wolfram - tungsten rod is available and relatively inexpensive and available in convenient sizes, would try to swage into copper cups. depleted uranium is not in the cards.

You should just be able to scale the BC by the ratio of the two metals' densities if you have a lead bullet with the same shape and a known BC.

Just FYI, SD (Sectional Density) is a factor in the calculation of the BC of a bullet. You might also look at Au and my all time favorite, Os. Don't be cheap.

How do you swage tungsten? Isn't it too brittle? I like the gold idea. That'd probably work really well :)
