i shoot targets for fun and varmints for more fun and my 3 nfs have the np-2dd reticle. the dot is SMALL but there is no clutter with lines everywhere. after a little practice i can put that little dot on the ghog's chest and the bullet magically goes right to that spot! the only time when i have to pay close attention is when the target is in shade...the dot is small but , move the gun just a little and the dot is found. the horizontal lines of the np-2dd help in this situation. all three of mine are the 8-32 power and since we have a lot of humidity in tenn, things get a bit blurry at 32, so i back off and ...BANG! one last note, the above nfs are heavy as compared to the sightrons of the same power.

thanks lpreddick, I have three other nightforce's and am aware of there weight, like a sledge hammer. glad to here about the reticle as I haven't even seen one.

guys I could use some help making up my mind on a stock. this is my first ever benchrest style rifle build. most of them are tacticle. I will be shooting 100-200yd local matches from a bench and would like to shoot at 400-1000yd prone also. I have been looking at shehane and McMillan mbr's wood and laminate of course. what should I look for.

thanks for your time
kyle

my build has changed directions to a strictly 100-200yd gun at this point. the original 1 in 8 twist bartlein I ordered never got shipped by the vendor. (nice huh) so I re-thought my mission and now have a bartlein 1 in 13.5 24" barrel, leupold comp 35x and a shehane mbr being built. kiff has since help me decide on the appropriate freebore for 60-70 grainers also. barrel and scope are in hand and when the reamer gets sent all will be off to longrifles inc. I do have some questions as far as setup for a bench gun tho.

first I am going to run a 0moa picitiny base with 8-40 screws(soley because they are machined and tapped by cnc machine in the accurizing process and true to all the work being performed). not sure on what height to get ring's or does anyone make offset ring's for picitiny.

second the shehane mbr is 3" longer in the forend I believe. should it be cut down to help balance the finished rifle or left long. barrel is HV finishing at 23".

I think I would try it before you decide to cut it down.Save the piece you cut incase you need it later.

Great , thanks for the work . Let us know what you need and I will do my best to get it out . You know I have been from here to kingdom come and theirs no place like Oregon. I'm glad to see all the folks from Oregon on this forum. Thanks Dave

everything is coming together finally. parts include;

shehane mbr tracker in monarch
bartlein 6mm HV contour 1 in 13.5 twist
Remington 700sa
leupold 35x competition
ptg 6br reamer

almost ready to send off for machinework. I am looking at purchasing davidson bases and a set of tall morr accuracy rings. also need a jewel br trigger. any suggestions.

thanks for looking
kyle
