I mentioned this some time ago and did additional research and found that it was possible, but was not a viable paid project to even a start. It would take many steps to produce the rifle, so I did it for myself in my shop. Oh the Hodgdon Max pressure for the 358 Win and 6.5x55 are 2,000 PSI different, so factory loads or mid range loads are close to each other. This group of test loads produced round primers and decent accuracy. The black is a hard cast powder coated plain base RCBS 200.
I started with a brand new arsenal built, never fitted to a bolt or barrel Husky, 1943 action. So with 54 alterations, it works, feeds, ejects, and shoots, well.
ER Shaw made the SS 1-14 twist .358 barrel for me, for the 96 action, was mounted and head-spaced, threaded w a bird cage thread protector.
Timney makes a multi model trigger that must be fitted
Safety was changed to a sporter firing pin safety
Extractor and face were altered to hold the .473 case at 45 degrees on a 360 degree turn.
Tang was cut as was the trigger guard
Bolt handle turned and swept, with jeweled body, lugs hand lapped to 100%
The action was faced and threads trued, lugs squared, ramp and ways were polished, D&T done
A Claro Walnut stock was made, glass bedded, Cerakote granite black was added
Shoots 1/2" with test loads at 50 and impact was high and right of center at 250 meters. Hold about center above the axle hole. Saved the last round to try the 250 meter disc blade. A little load work to do, but has promise. I went right through the HD Disc blade.
