An interesting caliber choice though. What inspired that?

Almost a grain more case capacity over a 223 Ackley and no fireforming.

Great looking and shooting too, I'm sure. A great addition to your already incredible stable of toys. Thanks for sharing Al.

Why the 40 MOA base ???

I'm still 26 MOA off the bottom of the scope with a 200 zero.

I've got four guns set up with 40's and they range from 19-26 MOA from the bottom.

With them being "closer" to the bottom, I don't need to spend the coin for zero stops. I write on the bottom of the forend tip with a Sharpie on how far bottom is, in case confusion sets in.

Why didn't you just chamber it for 222 Remington Magnum? Whats the difference between the two?

Quite a bit actually, it holds about one grain more than the 223 Ackley,

Some cases for comparison.....

221 Fireball --- 222 Rem --- 223 REM --- 223 Ackley --- 222 Rem mag --- 22-204

In preliminary testing with only one powder, I ran the 75 A-Max to 3236 with no apparent pressure, but the accuracy was at 3150, which was a .855" three shot at 200.

Wow that's running them pretty good. What powder and how many grains are you using my 223AI is only running the 75gr Amax at 3050fps.

This barrel, at 26", is a bit over 100 FPS faster than the 22" Krieger I just listed in the classifieds. Some of it's length, the other, I assume, is a 4 groove vs 5R rifling. The accuracy in the 22" runs 'em at 3050 also.

The powder I'm running is the old pulled down AA-2230-C, which is an equivalent to current AA-2460. When the weather straightens, I may play with some others, but I have a surplus of the C to keep me happy.

Very good lookin rig. I have been looking at the Marksman stock but I am worried about the comb height. Is it as high as the HTG stock?

I'm not sure, as I've never had a HTG.

I don't have a problem with these Marksmans. They're great for the bags, off hand, or a bipod. I have several of them.

Nope, not this one.

He chambered the one I have in the classifieds though.
