New lathe coming

I have had my 1340 GT for five years. I added a VFD and Mark Jacobs control board. Also a flush system and have a DRO still in the box. I have the headstock aligned to .0003" over 6", and it cuts very nice chambers. I just bought PM's version of a Set Tru chuck and it is very nice--extremely close to a Bison and less than half the cost.

The things I don't like about it are the total loss gearbox oiling and the light weight of my stand. My stand only weighs 250 lbs. I suppose I should just bolt the lathe to the floor. Because if the light weight 500 RPM is about as fast as I like to run it--which is plenty for barrel work.

I've got a 1340GT as well and I think I got the heavier upgraded stand. Still doubt it weighs more than 250 lbs. With a 8" 4 jaw, it might have a harmonic where the balance is off around 650-750, it runs smooth at 1000 RPM and up, 6" 3 jaw, 5C collet chuck, ER-40 collet chuck can run up to 1800 RPM pretty easy. I've got a 3 phase with VFD as well. Wouldn't be without my DRO.
