New lapua brass necks not straight

I recently turned necks on a couple hundred Lapua 6BR Norma on an IDOD. I didn’t run them through a sizing die first, but did use a .2415 mandrel on them as a few of them had mildly dented necks. I wound up with a neck thickness of 11 thousandths, where all but (I think it was) 12 necks totally cleaned up. The IDOD spins the case by the body, so I was pretty happy with how straight those necks were with respect to that.

Edit to add: I believe the original neck thickness was about 13 thousandths.

For the most part, I'd think when a case is held by the body the way IDOD does, the neck's axis should line up very well, and that's a good thing. For typical neck turning, where the cases are held at the base by a case holder that holds the case firmly against the case's base, when the surface of the base is not perfectly square to the axis of the case body or neck, a wobble will result. That wobble we get when turning necks by hand (or the 21st Century tool) is not really an issue since the cutting is being guided buy the mandrel keeping the two neck surfaces parallel during the cut. In fact, the wobble is actually a good thing as to not to resist that wobble and stress the neck during the cutting procedure.
