New Lapua brass dented in shipping!!

The fine folks at Lapua have been trained since birth to take pride in their work and what they produce, and they make a quality product. But they have no idea of the treatment that this product will receive at the hands of Americans that will handle their product in the delivery process. I think your anger is misplaced and should be directed towards the UPS, FEDEX or the USPS or all of the above.
It's not just the US, it's like that in the UK too. Never put a fragile label on anything, guaranteed to be used as a football!

I recently ordered a box (100 pcs.) of Lapua 243 brass from Bullet Central. I received them in a timely manner. Every one of the necks was round! That had never happened before. They were still run through a mandrel. I don't remember this happening before but...There was an extra piece in the box! So, I received 101 pcs. Good for me. Sierra used(?) to do this don't know if they still do,

Not angry really just figured they would have been better secured in there package I guess

Like other have said. I have had this occur with various brands of brass, bought from just about every brass maker over the last 60 or so years. Not an issue to me, just something that occurs with shipping, at times.
A quick run into a FL or Neck sizing die, then recheck dimensions cures the issue.
Live is never perfect, but can be still enjoyable. SMILE..

For best results they need to go through a sizing die right out of the box, that will fix all the issues you see. If you don't load with excessive pressure these should last a long time. But you can expand the primer pockets with just a little too much powder.

Did not Lapua come out with an update to their packaging going forward? I too run new Lapua over a mandrel, Those necks are tight.
But I do recall reading Lapua will be going away from the ammo box type container, too bad, and moving to a smaller paper package to be more earth friendly. Correct me if I am wrong. That may solve the loose cases bouncing around inside that sweet blue box.
I mandrel all my Lapua also, dented necks and non dented necks. I'm going to miss the blue box.

Yes the Lapua necks are tight! . Does ADG brass still come in the translucent orange flip top ammo boxes? That there is the best packaging IMHO. Each case is solitary that way. The Lapua blue box is sweet but the virgin brass comes loose and the boxes are a little more deep than needed.

I've had some Lapua brass like this. They told me they think it happens when the dealers send out smaller lots i.e. not on pallets and it gets rattled around. They sent me a new lot which were also dented but after I had run a mandrel through them they were fine. Not ideal but just cosmetic really. Apparently they are working on new packaging. I'd just put some foam in the box to take up the space to prevent movement.
LAPUA is bringing out new packaging later this year to eliminate/ reduce the denting of case mouths in shipping. We had used a foam pad in the box with the brass to help with this issue. HOWEVER, the foam reacted with the sea air and left a blue stain on the brass it was contacting. Some customers thought this was defective annealing of the brass and asked for replacements. The stain could be polished off by tumbling . But it was a concern for our customers so the foam pad was removed a couple years back. Unfortunately damage can occur with any type of packaging if it is abused in shipping. I drove for an AIR FREIGHT company for 10 years in the 90s and saw this firsthand. FRAGILE stickers on or DO NOT STACK ON stickers are routinely ignored. If the cartridge case cannot be repaired with the expander ball in a die or an expander mandrel. Please let us know.
Thank you.

I get what you’re saying. Like a box of cereal they are full when they leave the factory but settle and get loose in transit.

Just for fun empty a fresh box of Lapua brass and put it all back in the box. It’ll take an extra moment and shuffling to get the lid to close.

I'd be more worried if the dent was below the neck.

The neck for me is no issue

ALL LAPUA brass should be run through a die or an expander mandrel to prepare the neck for case prep, removal of dents and so it will accept the bullet correctly!
i gotta check some of the virgin 6.5 prc brass I have to see what the neck tension is out of curiosity, its impossible to seat bullets in their virgin state without damaging bullets
