How thin is the new brass?
I want to here some good honest numbers from some people using a quality ball mic what numbers are you getting?
What is the lot number on the brass?

Thanks,Donovan
I haven't been on this sight much lately and didn't know there was a thread going already when I posted this.
I need to order a new reamer and I'm hearing from some very reputable shooters that the neck wall thickness is down more than ever. I chambered a barrel in 6 Dasher 267nk and when he turned the cases to fit he said they didn't all clean up. I was about to order a new 269 reamer but I want to hear from some shooters that are using current manufacture brass before I make a decision.
I have shot 270nk chamber ever since I started shooting a dasher in the 2009 season. I turned them then and it sounds like it's a good canadate for a standard reamer these days so Il probably stick with it.

The shooter I did the 267 chamber for sets his turning tool to .0115. He has used this chamber since 2007 and is now doing brass that will not clean up 100%.

I use .0115 for a .269" but I like more clearance than most do, and you will have an accasional small patch of unturned neck, but this is few and far between. My samples of current blue box are .012" average. I have a Henriksen 6 Dasher about to be delivered with .268" and I`m going with .011" about the perfect turn with the new stuff.

Just checked 6 BR brass # P00568502, neck wall thickness is running between .0122 - .0115 and some are on the same case. I think that is excessive for a no turn neck....jim

Jay, If you can shoot a no-turn with the numbers i found, it would make no sense to turn necks.I sold my.269 neck Dasher reamer to go to a .266 neck to clean it up. I also made the reamer a little shorter because of the brass only 1.555 long before fire forming......jim

Lot: 4PH6046 P00568501....bought a month or two back.

Range: .0118 - .0132

The vast majority of measurements come in between .0120 - .0125. The most common loaded neck diameter is .2675 with a small number coming in at .2680-.2685. My no-turn chamber neck is .271

My numbers are very close to the same as scotharr. .012" to .0125" wall thickness, "new" blue box, measured with a Mitutoyo tubing mic. Loaded rounds also approx. .2675", no turn neck dia. is .270".

Lot# P00568502. Scott: #4PH6046 must be a product number. All three of my 100 count boxes have that same number in the upper left corner on the lid, but all three box's have different lot numbers, shown in the lower right of the lid. My # P00568502, for example is preceeded by : Lot: ------------

your right on that i have 2bxs. with no lot # pics on main message board under attn kevin thomas around pg 9 i think now i have no idea where the lot # on these are dont guess it really matters just got my curosity up inquiring minds kindof thing also my ball mics show old type walls to be 13&13.5 new type 12&12.5 shooter63

Just checked on a couple of really old cardboard "gold" colored boxes, bought new 6 or 7 years ago.

That same number, 4PH6046 is in a small white box, on the lid. That number definately is assigned to all 6BR brass.

Thanks to everyone that responded, I did end up using the 270 nk for a no turn chamber. I was talking to scottharr & kevin thomas today and mentioned this thread and found out there was several replies since the last time I looked.
Thanks for the info... Jay Cutright
