NEW IMR POWDERS ?

Did I spy NEW powders from IMR on the cover of the new Gun Digest Reloading cover ? IMR 7977 and IMR 4451 and what is Enduron ?

From my personal experience if you saw ANY IMR powders it was in a picture some place because it sure is not on any shelves where I live.

Try some Devilfast 666. Hard to find, but becomes available occasionally, operates best as a very hot load.

Wonder how many of the so called "New" powders are just re-numbered "Old" powders that were once upon a time "favorites" that just fell out of favor?

Kind of like things we see in the grocery aisle with new packaging and names but still look like the old stuff when you get it home.

I just talked to the Hodgdon tech line. They said there are 3 new IMR powders coming. These are all single based extruded powders made in Canada. They will be the first to be made in Canada using a new process that will make them more temperature stable. They won't be quite as stable as the Hodgdon extreme, but better than previous powder made in Canada. They are:

IMR 4166, which is between IMR 4895 and IMR 4064 in burn rate
IMR 4451, which is between IMR 4350 and IMR 4831 in burn rate
IMR 7977, which is slower than IMR 7828

Aside from 4895, the Canadian Dupont IMR powders have been relatively easy to find.
