Does the newest book have RL-16 for the 162gr 7mm-08? If so could somebody PM me a picture of just that page.

So that's the latest data? Look at the differences between W760 and H414. Aren't those supposed to be the same powders?
The absence of 162s with RL16 has nothing to do with it being unsuitable and everything to do with Alliant being a bit lazy on getting data.Yes, that's the latest data. Published/printed 2021, the 11th Ed. Hornady Cartridge Reloading book shows those pages and that data. (Just double-checked in my copy of the book.)
Looks like Hodgdon reports the exact same Starting and Max loads for both of those powders for the 7-08 Rem:
- Hodgdon's H414 for the 162gr Hornady A-Max: starting load: 43.0 2,553 42,100 CUP; max load: 45.0 2632 44,500 CUP.
- Hodgdon's (Winchester) W760 for the 162gr Hornady A-Max: starting load: 43.0 2,553 42,100 CUP; max load: 45.0 2,632 44,500 CUP.
Interestingly, the Alliant website (in their Reloader's Guide) lists for the 162gr Hornady A-Max one load recipe: 24in bbl, 2.8" OAL min, Hornady 162gr A-Max, Federal 210 primer, Alliant 2000-MR powder @ 2700fps. No RL-16 listed by Alliant for the 162gr bullets they show.
FWIW, the Alliant site does list the Alliant RL-16 powder for the 160gr Barnes TSX, 154gr Hornady SST, and the 140gr Nosler Partition. But not the 162gr bullets.
On the burn rate chart published by LoadData, they do list the W760 and H-414 powders next to each other on the chart (#147 W760 , and #148 H-414). Same burn rate, same spherical design, same load recipe data (for 162gr A-Max) on the Hodgdon Reloading Center website ...
The absence of 162s with RL16 has nothing to do with it being unsuitable and everything to do with Alliant being a bit lazy on getting data.
Thanks for posting. They do have RL-16 listed so I'm adding the book to my next order to get the latest one. There ya go. Those pics are out of the 11th edition of the Hornady reloading manual.
Glad it helped. Thanks for posting. They do have RL-16 listed so I'm adding the book to my next order to get the latest one.
