Hello,
I've been a lurker here for a while and am just now deciding to post. I'm amazed at the amount of knowledge and information shared here.
I just got my first benchrest build completed on Saturday. It is chambered in 6.5x284 and here are the rifle specs:
--Stevens 200 in .243;
--Stockade Woodchuck stock;
--SSS Competition trigger;
--SSS recoil lug;
--SSS tactical bolt knob;
--Lothar Walther varmint contour barrel in 6.5x284;
--one piece picatinny base;
--IOR 35mm Tactical 6x24 50mm scope with MP8 reticle;
Today I went to the range and completed the barrel break in procedure. It is the first time I've ever broken in a barrel and this website helped educate me on how to do so. I had no clue how tedious the "shoot & clean" cycle can be but I guess you have to pay attention to doing the small things right to get the most out of your equipment.
I want to give a special "thank you" to Darrell Jones for taking the time to help me out at the range today. He was there shooting and took time away from his guns to answer some of my questions and make sure I did everything right. Darrell is a wealth of knowledge who is incredibly generous in sharing his time and expertise with a newbie such as me. Thanks so much Darrell and I hope someday I can repay your kindness.
