New guy here requesting some advice.

Hey all,

I'm new to this website and have a request for any info on a particular custom rifle builder. I have searched the web and cannot find much info at all on "Kodiak Precision"

Has anyone heard of them? Know anything about their quality of builds?

Reason I ask is I have stumbled on to a Kodiak Precision built Rem 40X stainless in 6BR, Jewel 2oz. trigger, McMillan stocked bench gun. It has a Leupold 36X BR scope, Kelbly's bases and rings and is in pristine condition it also comes with about 200 rounds of ammo loaded in Lapua brass. Not sure of the round count on the barrel but I'm thinking it would make a pretty nice chuck gun.
I can get all of this for $1600 cash.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

you didn't mention the barrel maker. that's probably the most important piece of the puzzle assuming its chambered and head spaced correctly. either way it sounds priced OK. I would say if the McMillan is the model you like then its not a bad deal even if you have to rebarrel it. that scope with those rings and the 40x action are all good quality pieces.

Haven't handled a Kodiak Precision rifle but have read a lot of good things about them and the 6BR setup you describe at the price you posted seems very fair to my mind.

Thanks for the info guys, I do not know what brand barrel was used at the time of the build, the owner has since passed away so important info like that is not available. I may go ahead and pick it up as I simply cannot build a gun for that price these days.

Depending on the length of the barrel, it may be able to be set back if there is throat erosion.
