New Garmin Xero C1 Radar Chronograph

Garmin Xero C1 out today. Picked 100% of rifle and pistol shooting. Right off the tripod. No issues at all. Even with other shooters on the line.

Andiscan worked on everything EXCEPT when running a TBAC 338 Ultra. It missed 10 of those rounds. Garmin, again, no issues.

Garmin also worked on suppressed 22, both a Ruger IV with TBAC suppressor and a Vudoo rifle 100%.

Absolutely refreshing to have a firearm accessory that literally works 100% out of the box. No fiddling. No complicated setup. Just turn on and go. It's dummy proof.

Guess which one is going to storage?

One of the things I like about my Magneto Speed is I can save the data to a spreadsheet on my PC. Does the Garmin have that capability?

In the ShotView app on phone or tablet you select the session, then there are 3 horizontal dots up in the corner. First option is "Export as CSV" (comma separated variable), at least on an Iphone, it then pulls up the option to text or email to yourself or others. When you open it on a PC, it looks like below. If you've entered a bullet weight, it would have calculated a KE and power factor. If you had entered notes for clean bore or cold bore, they would be there.

I apologize if it has already been mentioned I haven't read all 13 pages , but it would be interesting to test the Garmin and Labradar against each other to see how close they are .

So far I am happy with my Garmin. While comparing Chronos side by side will give you some data, what does it really tell you, and what are you going to do with it? There is still the one big question which one is right and do you care?

The main thing is do you trust it to be accurate with repeatability. Like most things in load development repeatability is what we all strive for in sizing, neck tension, powder charge, etc. even if your specific measurement is off compared to what others are getting as long as it is consistence, repeatable, and shows up on the target that is the goal.

We shot a bunch last night and @David Christian can confirm that across 30+ shots there was less than 2fps variance shot to shot when compared against the Labradar. Even when I held the unit 6 feet behind him while he shot, my Garmin was within 1fps of his Garmin which was within 2fps of his Labradar. The only wider variance we found was if we place the Garmin wide to his left or right, in those cases the spread was closer to 3-5fps.

For those wondering about the AndiScan variance, it's not that simple because the AndiScan implicitly lets you adjust the measuring angles so you can manually adjust the measured velocity. Meaning you can sync it up to match the velocity of any other unit you're shooting with. It's good and bad (especially if you start really messing with it because you can quickly lose reality and have to reset the unit if you're not careful). Not saying it's a better or worse function but sometimes less is more and this is one of those cases having use the Garmin now.

Do you have to remember to change modes for faster or slower projectiles? I don't always remember to change the first shot with my labradar because I'm not very smart.

When you start a new string it automatically first asks for one of several choices for rifle, pistol, bow etc and then when you choose one it asks you to select one of several velocity ranges. Super fast and easy and ensures you always have the right setting each time you use it.

Lots of info. I noticed the battery is LI-ion "non-replaceable"...does that mean by user and it has to be replaced by Garmin or is the unit toast if the battery fails? Anyone know?
This guy, scroll down to post 600 (credit him for the photo too) https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/garmin-xero-c1-pro-chronograph.7189898/page-12 opened it and also links a replacement battery and say he doesn't see any issue replacing it. He says this is the battery https://amzn.to/4070NmB

It will be very handy for testing ES on diff batches & brands of 22LR, along with everything else! IMO my magnetospeed is an ammo waster cause I dont trust it for precision, and obviously accuracy, as it interferes with the normal trajectory.

Thanks.

I ordered a Garmin from Bass Pro Monday, it shipped today, might see it Friday. I'm going to let my son use it first with his bow and the grandkids bows. I have no plans to mount it on the rifle, the tripod will do just fine.

So did a little testing today with my xbow and Glock. 5 rounds each and zero problems. With the bow I just had my dad hold it beside the bow…about 2 feet and it picked up all shots no problem. For the handgun I set it on the fence and shot over it. Again no issues at all! Hopefully range day on Friday with a couple 17s and 22-250AI well over 4000fps.

Garmin arrived, I’ll try it out in the morning. I knew it was small but it’s even smaller than what it looked like, handy. Not selling the LR, always good to have a back up, the magneto might be gifted soon though.
Tried it out this morning, so easy to use. Didn’t miss a shot and was within 6 fps if the LR. I like the internal battery, the size, and ease of use. LabRadar is gonna lose a lot of market share because of this little Garmin. I know I’m only stating the obvious …….
