New front rest

I shoot with one too Dusty. Not sure if yours has the stainless steel inserts for the tension screws on the stock mount but if not, call Pete and talk to him about it. Without it you will notice the screws bite into the aluminum plate and leave aluminum dust all over the rest. I love my rest but I have to let my girlfriend use it when we shoot together because she said for it’s like night and day compared to the bald eagle with the Shadetree top. For me, I like shooting from the 21st century rest more than the BE, but I shoot equally well off of both.

Is this (metal shavings) what you are referring to that there is a fix for?579EC700-B8DB-4622-9499-9423120C0528.jpeg

I should let Mrs Mike in Ct. Do a shout out to Rod. She loves her T-Rex. I tell her it weighs more than her "Manservant" Now a light weight Base is avaliable. Thanks Rod. Mikeinct Ps. The old Girl whipped me at a few matches this year. She & her T-Rex rest, new Custom Kelby 6mmBRX are doing very well. We will be in touch.

Mike, I know that feeling. I shot a long range match over in Tulsa Ok last Saturday and got beat by John G from Kansas City. He was shooting my equipment with my new felt blocks and won the day. Congratulations John, and just so ya know my prices are going up for you.

I just ordered a new Raptor! Can't wait to get it in my hands. I spoke with a few trusted people for their opinions and every one said they preferred it over the most popular rest out there. I really liked what I saw of a video posted by someone on here that really showed the design details. I was impressed with the engineering and overall design more than anything at that point. I know Rod is great to work with and he will stand behind his work. I ordered it with the felt and IBS legal tops so I can see which I prefer. I shoot mostly UBR benchrest and they don't have all those rest rules so I can use whichever I prefer. I'm just excited to get it! I'll probably be posting a Neo for sale soon after. I should have it in about 4 weeks, too! Thanks Rod!--Mike

Precisely. The bottom plate is replaced with a new aluminum plate with stainless steel inserts where the screws contact the plate. Fixes the issue. I’m on the waiting list for a SEB Neo-X and the girlfriend said “I can’t wait to shoot the Hybrid test against the new Neo-X……..and then I’ll use the one I like the best and you can have the other one”, to which I said “Babe, that’s exactly how I knew it would play out anyway, even if you didn’t say anything”

I do have a fix for that! Shoot me an email at pete@21stcenturyshooting.com and I will get you set up. This was an old design on the top and we have updated it so there are stainless inserts on the top plate that eliminate the issue.
Works perfect. Thanks for listening to my complaint and rectifying the situation. Great customer service and great stand Pete.

we have a couple of .22 RF 100 yd matches each year at Lincoln Count Rifle Club. I sometimes lend a friend my Rem 37, 20X Unertl and Hongisto doctored miracle trigger. When I do he has beaten me every time. I'll try to prevail next weekend.

Well, my Raptor base arrived today and it looks fantastic. 5 minute job to change the rollers to felt ears and remove the original base. There's definitely some weight savings you can feel which is good. One thing to note though, the Raptor base is thicker than the original T-Rex base, so now it won't fit in my T-Rex hard case due to the extra height. So for anyone looking to do this upgrade, be aware you will need an alternate carry case.

Chris, your new Raptor will fit easily in your original hard case. all you have to do is trim your inserts and lay the raptor down instead of standing it upright. You will have plenty of room for all your gear and have space to spare. I added a picture to show where you trim the hard foam inserts.

For my new Raptor, I have a new hard case that is much smaller than the T-Rex case. On the order page there is a box to check if you want to add this hard case to your order. I am trying to keep the price manageable so I have made the hard case an option for The folks who want or need one. Rod

Rod, I think you said my order will come with a case. Please do include a case, if there was any confusion at all. Thanks!--Mike

Cheers Rod, this just highlights why I'm not an engineer!

Looks fantastic, as an owner of the T-Rex, the one complaint I have is the weight of the unit, it is on the heavy side and I was looking at a Seb Neo X down the track for the additional portability and weight saving...but given the new base is able to be retrofitted to the original T-Rex, well this makes more sense.
I think the heavier weight can be a distinct advantage AND selling feature.

Dave, if that were the case there would not be any MINIs on the line but they are popular because they work and easy to transport to and from the firing line etc.
I still offer my original T-Rex at 23 LBs which is approximately the weight of the NEO but has the footprint of a MAX. The new Raptor is much wider at 23" when fully spread out and this is more than any rest I know of but the Raptor weights just about what a MINI weighs .
I believe stability comes more from footprint width and not the weight. As long as the forearm is not clamped solidly into the front bag or blocks what would make it move? The F-Class rules say the rifle must lift straight up and out of the front bag so a light weight rest that has low friction against the forearm works just fine, and less weight and size to lug around is a big plus. Just my thoughts sir.
The pictures show the Mini at the dropped or widest footprint vs the Raptor.
