New from Florida -- LR Shooting Qs

If you don’t have a lot of money….stop right now. This game is not for the faint of heart or light in the pocketbook.
That depends on what you want to do. If you want to compete at the highest levels, then yes.
If you want to learn and have a good time competing against yourself, bring what you have, learn and enjoy.
Most who try to race for the top of the game with money will never see the summit.

i got the screws out!
Yes I just want to learn and get to the limits of what rifle I have.
I have learned in other hobbies that you can enjoy it with a fraction of the money the rich guy is spending.
And I would like to Thank this wonderful resource of a forum for everything i need to learn.
And special mention Thanks Don @Dgd6mm

Your welcome, and I was going to get in touch with you this morning. I just seen your issue last night but it was late. Mark and I shot at our Branford range yesterday and we're going back today. Probably from 12-4 or so, if you would like to catch up with us your more than welcome too. If you're busy we will definitely say a day and time. When you're ready we'll make a trip to Bradford Sporting Farm and run some rounds at mid to long range. Shadd's Deer Farm has shut down for now and possibly permanently.

Good Day everyone and a Happy Sunday too!
I had a great time yesterday with Don and Mark at Branford. Gained a lot of learning. Now moving forward to the next chapter, i want to upgrade my stock. This may take a few months just like the optics. The big thing going on in my mind is “do I keep on upgrading the Savage Axis .308 that I have or would I be better off starting with a better rifle?
Thanks again Don @Dgd6mm !

What is your Goal? Hunting? Competition? Precision Shooting? Bench Rest? Prone?
It's not always easy to define but have to start somewhere.
Talk with those Good Guys down there.
Best Wishes

My goal is to be able to shoot something small at a far distance with a projectile having enough energy to take down medium size game.
I would call myself a prepper and want to be prepared to take an animal if the need arises.
I am not a hunter and I gave up hunting after a few seasons trying. I have not shot an animal.
With this first goal I think 300 yards is the farthest I think I should be proficient.

Second goal is just self satisfaction if I can hit steel at far away distances.
