I have a 317 in 17 AH with the super skinny stock and a Pac-Nor barrel. So light I get recoil shooting a 20 gr bullet. Also have a 317 in 17M4 rebarreled from a factory 12-223. It has a gorgeous Herter's stock that I am afraid to ding up, but will be out shooting PDs with it soon. Did not shoot these guns for 19 years.

I have a barrel ready to go on my .243 that is a 6-250 AI that I plan on shooting 65-68 gr 6mm bullets. You may want to consider this cartridge, however, I do not know how finicky it may be to find the right load.

I am the old goat in the crowd, I have no interest in sub calibers below 224, therefore, create the new thread and get them out of the 224.

Cock the bolt dry fire the rifle without taking pressure off the trigger lift the handle and remove the bolt

I have a new cz527 22 H, the barrel is .224. I was given a few boxes of sierra 40 and 45 grain jacketed bullets,they are .223, can i use them along with once fired brass in my new CZ? I thought the rule of thumb was alway plus 1-2 thou larger was ok, but one thou smaller? What do you think??

Now it is 10 years later. Ha. 2021 Prices just keep going up….. That is the constant in this market. But more hurdles in supply has been interrupted by pandemic, political malarky have compounded the buisnesss model….

Having shot many different small bore centerfire cartridges ranging from 218 Bee to .223 Remington as well as nearly every rimfire cartridge still available, I will say 204 Ruger shot through my left handed Ruger M77 Hawkeye has become my favorite. It's ability to reach out beyond 200 yards with excellent accuracy is, in my experience, something special. I have shot it at 300 yards and been surprised at it's accuracy and minimal bullet drop at such longer ranges. I am sure it is the 4000+ fps at the muzzle that is at least partially responsible for such long range results.

Only my Ruger No. 1V in .222 Remington dialed in with my carefully crafter handloads compares at 200 yards and that is a far more expensive custom built rifle for which there is essentially no commercial ammunition available. Still, I have owned three different rifles in .222 Remington and do recommend that cartridge, if you are a hand loader. In my experience it can be made far more accurate out to 200 yards than any other 22 cartridge.

What primer shortage? If you go into any firearms store can't you get primers?

I'm finding them in the neighborhood of $65 at the local gun shows. Not that often, but now and again.

Hi,

I'm another shooter that will add his name to that growing list. I just went and picked up my brand new Kimber Pro Varmint in .204 Ruger.

I do intend to be shooting factory ammo,just to build up a supply of brass) and to see what projectiles it likes.

I see that Nosler are making 32gr Ballistic Tip Varmint projectiles as well as 40gr. Thats great news, since i'll be reloading for it in the not too distant future. I was using the 70gr Ballistic Tip varmints in my .243 with great success.

My M12 in 204 never liked the 40 gn bullets, but shot the 32 gn very well.
