New Forster die boxes

I always liked the big red, protective case that Forster dies came in. You could set them up and store them with room in them to spare. Now they arrive in a small cardboard box, and the pretty red ones cost $8.20 if you want them. Grrrr. I understand the boxes cost money, but over $8!? That adds up when you buy as many dies as I do! Forster, are you listening? Lol

I have gotten the cardboard boxes, even on older, SINGLE dies. Multi die sets have come in the plastic boxes. I might have gotten a newer single micrometer top seating die in the plastic box. Are you saying that multi die sets now come in one or more cardboard boxes?

I really dislike the blow molded Forster boxes.
They are a non standard size and do not stack well with other die boxes. The red Bonanza boxes are much better. The black CH boxes are the same box and are good replacements for the Forster boxes.
Being able to store the boxes is important to me be cause I have so many die sets.

I have been getting the older plastic boxes with micrometer Seaters, and recently have been buying sizer dies alone. The Sizer’s have all been coming in the cardboard boxes.

holy cow you guys buy alot of dies-- and i thought i had quite a few. i dont like the bigger forster boxes - the top is rounded instead of flat. they dont stack good. for the price of dies now it seems like a better box than cardboard would be standard even for single dies. mabie i should just sell all my die boxes and make a rack for all the dies. second thought i think ill make the rack but throw all the die boxes in a cardboard box for when i sell the dies and i wont care what they package them in from now on

I have lime colored and dark green fiber boxes from RCBS, I have three different green plastic boxes from RCBS. I have round containers from Lee and I have green and red plastic containers from Lee. I also have fiber counter display boxes from C&H from El Monte, California. The counter display boxes threw a lot of reloaders off because they included information/directions on the bottom of the box. And I wondered who would pick up the box and look at the bottom of it?

Fiber boxes do not last long.

Midsouth supply has them for $5.47 each.

Some of the reason for offering it(the box)for 8.00 or less is the fact that possibly the original blow mold wore out and new dies to produce them are many thousands of dollars on up so that may be the reason.

Will someone PLEASE highlight or underline anything in the above post that has to do with the original post about FORSTER die boxes............

Now on to the OP, have you checked with Whidden Gunworks? They use the same box as FORSTER but in black instead of red.

Do all those die boxes of yours have instructions for how to set HEadspace?
Where are all these die boxes located? Many inquiring minds want to know these things?

They might have instructions on how to set cartrdge length. I think that my Redding dies might have that.

The C&H counter display box had instructions on the bottom of the box. The dies and box were made in the '60s, the instructions instructed the dies were designed to be used with a shell holder that has a height of .125". That was close to 50 years ago and reloaders are still claiming the shell holder manufacturer must match the die manufacturer because of variations among different manufacturers.

I added deck to the height to get deck height of the shell holder. It was about this time I started using feeler gages to control the length of the case from the shoulder to the case head. That was for short and long chambers.
