New Enduron powders

Stopped by a gunstore today and grabbed some Enduron powders , 4166, 4451 and 7977 by the pound. I have never tried them, I hear the 4166 is great for the .308 and the 4451 is for the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 7977 for the 7mm and 300 magnums. Burn rate of the 4166 is similar to Varget, 4451 is to H4350 and 7977 is between RL-25 and H1000. The great thing is these powders are insensitive to temp changes.

How have you folks experienced with these new powders and results on the range?

I usually use Varget or IMR4064 in my .308 The IMR4064 is a bit more accurate but also is more prone to temperature variations. I bought a pound of IMR4166. I could not work up a load that shot consistently well with it and gave up. I used 168g Hornady BTHP Match bullets in Lapua cases. The jump was set to .025". At 42.0 grains, I chronographed them between 2,599 to 2,620 fps in a 22" barrel. Of course each rifle is different, yours may like it.

I had good luck with 4166 in my BRDX with 105 Scenars,,and the 4451 in a 243 with 105 VLDs,,

in those loads the charge weights/fps/accuracy were a lot like RL15 and H4350 respectively ,,

in my 6.5x47 the 4451 shot as well as H4350 with 140 Hybirds but was about 100 fps slower at the high node,,

4166 in a .308 ?
A lot of us Palma shooter went for it ( Varget Hard to find).
To drive our 155gr. Bullets at 2984 to 3015 FPS. The PSI level is way past the 54000 Level for .308
I also found it very dirty.
Still have 11 lbs.

I am sure others will find it great like 8208 ????

I used IMR 4166 in a couple of Criterion barreled .308's. freebore was .090 or so. a moderate load between 42.0 and 42.8 was very accurate with 175 gr SMK's. don't recall the MV. Lapua brass, jumped 'em .020".

4166 is faster i think than Varget or 4064. not as fast as H4895. did seem a bit dirty

I found an old target when I was trying the 4166 powder. These are all (.308) 168 grain Hornady BTHP Match bullets in Lapua brass. I shot 5 with 4064 first and the rest were with 4166. The 1st shot was off because I just cleaned and de-coppered the barrel and it was a cold bore. The rest of the 4064 grouped a little better. The velocities are about the same but maybe slightly higher for the 4166 with the same load.

Mistake, I see I used 168 grain Sierra Match Kings for all these, not the Hornady.
