Shot 1200yd last week at Bang Steel for the first time in over a year. While the 6.5x47 does well at that range, I was lusting to shoot the mile and 2200yd steel!

Well my elk hunting days are over, so my plan is to rebarrel my 695 Tikka to 300PRC! Krieger barrel is on the way, now to get in the que with Dave Tooley.

Yea, that old Tikka action is very smooth and has a decent trigger. But the loads will may be too long for a magazine, and I have an extra wood stock for which I think I will fill in the mag well (and add extra weight too) to optimize for single shots.

Consider splash. Many great calibers will shoot far enough, few will give you a ground impact that you can see.

People telling me 7mm bullets don't give a good splash is why i want to build one.
