New dies and new Xtool D1 laser.

Recently I purchased a Harrell’s #3 bra sizing die, a Newlon precision br length seater die and a laser. This morning I reamed the seater and used the laser to mark the dies. I like having everything marked and labeled correctly as they should be. Thought I would share.

Update 11/12 to provide link to laser.

I purchased it through Amazon, at the time they offered a $50.00 instant rebate which is still good at this time. I purchased the kit which has the rotary and extra feet extensions. I ordered it on November 1st and it arrived on the 8th. It shipped from Hong Kong and wasn't suppose to be here until the 15th but arrived early. It has it's own software that is free to download. It is called Laserbox - Basic, and it is just that.... Basic

That looks great! Cermark ultra or something else?

Nope, just bare steel. I am very pleased with what I am getting for results without using Cermark or others, with that said I did order some Brilliance laser coat spray after the fact.

I have to say it holds up decently, It takes scotch brite or emery cloth to remove it. Can’t remove it with any gun type cleaner or a fingernail.

Yep, just wondered why it was there.

Oh, that’s just where they put it when they ship it to you evidently, cause that’s where it was when I unboxed it and that’s where I left it when I removed the top half to laser it.

Wow! I got about 13,500+ pieces of brass for you to mark if you're not busy; head-stamp be damned!

Honestly, i wish all dies were marked like this.

Man thats awesome! What software does it run? What all extra did you have to have to do that job?

I will add more detail tonight for the people who have PM’d me and responded on here. I am also gonna do a video and post it.

They are using there own software which is LaserBox - Basic. But the machine is RDF so I should be able to use others like Lightburn. I just bought the package deal with the rotary, loaded the software and laser marked those dies, it really was that simple. I haven’t even used any promoter like Cermark. They seem to have used the KISS (keep it simple stupid) model on this deal.

Put together a make shift support and laser’d a barrel tonight. I also updated the original thread with some info on the laser.

The home screen of LaserBox - Basic. One draw back for some might be that it only works in metric, I just convert everything.

Here is a nice blurry picture of it up closer

This is the next page where you can check what they call “framing” which is fitment of the item you are marking by use of the laser. You have to make sure and click “cylinder work” to engage the rotary. Every time you go out of this page and come back in you have to click it.

Sizing is obviously up to the end user. This is a little bigger than I would care for, I still need to grind the barrel so I will redo it later.
