New CZ MTR Varmint

I should be picking up a new CZ MTR Varmint today.
The rifle will be used for informal club shooting including our 25 yard off hand
winter league that starts in Jan.
50 yard Rim fire bench rest may be in the cards also.
It will be replacing a Savage that is in an Boydes AT ONE stock.
I have done OK with the Savage, but I am sick of the junk mags and a few other
aspects of the rifle.
I ordered a Arkin SH4 6x24 and area 419 15 MOA base.
The Savage shot RWS ammo best off of the bench and I will be testing all of the
usual brands and levels of those to see what the CZ will like.
More fun at the range!

Love my CZ 457's and in particular my MTR. Super accurate, super smooth, super reliable. Easy to swap out parts if/when your ready too.
That said, you must be younger than I am. I'm thinking the 7.5# MTR with a 2# Arkin on top is no small rifle to shoot offhand! Mine is strictly a bench gun.

Tacoma,
I had to add about three LBS to an AR I shot during our summer outdoor league.
The AR was a real challenge to hold steady as it was and the extra weight out front helped a lot.
We shot the standard 100 yard SR1 target at the 100 yards and it was a fun time.
I HATE light rifles off hand.
I have a full match M1A bull barrel and McMillan stock and it weighs a ton (OK half a ton)
I may shoot that beast next summer and I will be 71 years old then.

As Tacoma mentioned, it's easier to be accurate off hand with rifles in the 15 +/- lbs range.

A key is to have a position that gets the center of gravity of the rifle in line with the body's and to support the rifle with bone support.

I have a savage my cz 457 mtr is way more accurate. Maybe the round count on the savage hurts it some stopped counting after 50k but i have never had a problem with any of my 10 magazines. From my shooting of the cz 457 mtr mine shoots anything sk/lapua very accrately. Good luck with your mtr hopefully it shoots!
