new cooper

got my cooper pheonix two days ago in 6 mm ppc .it has been really windy recently but was going to have a shot with it anyway.Bore sighted at 100 yards and had it zeroed in 3 shots or as good as with the howling wind.the next 3 shot shot group could all be coverd with a british 5 pence i was surprised because the wind was that strong.i was shooting sako factory ammo 70 sierra racehead will load my own for it but needed cases .later went out and shot a fox with it bullet made a really neat job.love the accuracy of this round hopefully my groups will only get better with homeloads and better conditions.

I wish I can say the samething about my Phoenix in 6BR. I've been fooling around with it since March, I can occasionally get 5 shots under.5 moa in indoors, but she won't stay there. I've tried 4 type of powder, 5 bullet types, 3 major primer maker, I sort my brass, checked my runouts etc, gone as far as re-beded the action. I just ordered a batch of new brass to start it all over, hope I can get her dial in before she is shot out.
A friend bought one in 221 fireball before me and he can't get his to shoot either, he is sending his back to cooper to have it looked over.

I have a 223 I have a little trouble with. I find the varmint stock light and the gun barrel heavy and it always wants to
jump and getting it to track in the bags is difficult.
You also..?

well shot some homeloads today and they were terrible nearly an inch couldnt understad it will try the factory stuff again was really dissapointed.

thanks gunamouth you have given me alot of encoragement.will enjoy trying to outshoot the factory stuff at least i know the rifle is capable of it.just have to try diffrent combinations ect.

I think you'll find with the twist on your 6mm, a 65 gr. bullet will shoot the best. I have a M22 26" barrel in 6BR and shoot a 65 gr. Vmax with 32.5 gr. N135. 100 yd. groups are 1/4". The PPC will probably shoot VV N133 the best. Try the Vmax 65 gr. My rifle shoots 70 gr. bullets OK but not as well as the 65 gr. Oddly enough, I tried 75 gr. Vmax and could barely keep them on target but 75 gr. Sierra Varminter HP shoots almost as well as the 65 gr. Vmax. The 65 Vmax and the 75 Sierra are practically the same length. I am also having success with the Berger 68 gr. match HP with 31 gr. N135.

thanks for the advice found a load today 27.6 grains of n133 with a 65 grain v max and fedral primers was shooting 0.20 groups with the best being 0.169 only 4 shot groups but am delighted with this.
