can anyone help

shot some homeloads through my cooper pheonix 6 mmppc .the load was 27 grains of n133 with 65 grain v max fedral primers and sako brass.groups were terrible about an inch .this rifle was shooting near qaurter inch groups with factory sako ammo.can anyone help

Try some good custom bullets. I'd suggest Bart's on top of some H322 with a BR4 primer. Lapua brass of course.
V Max's won't cut it if your looking for real accuracy.

thanks dreever will take me a while to get some custom bullets but can get hold of bergers will give them a try.it was 70 grain target bullet in the factory sako stuff they shot great for being factory ammo.

Although the v-maxes wont shoot with good custom bullets, they are a very accurate varmint bullet. I just ran my 6ppc reamer into a shilen barrel and threaded it for my live varmint rifle about a month ago. I initially shot it with customs to see how it would group and it averaged a little less than 3 tenths. Since this is not my benchrest rifle, I had already planned on shootin the 65gr v-maxes so I developed a load for them. They average just a tad bigger if you don't count the occasional flier. I don't mind the flier's as I'm not trying to get .2 aggs with this rifle and there are usually only one or two "bad" bullets per box. By the way my load is a little different that yours. I,m running lapua brass which is much stronger than the sako brass and about 29grs. of N133 with a fed 205M primer. Primers are cratered with this load so watch for pressure signs as you move up. This is a rem 700 action that doesnt take the pressure like a custom action will either. My load in my LV rifle with BAT action is at 31 grs. of the 133. The common thread with both these rifles is that neither will shoot without a lot of pressure. I attribute this to the burning rate of the newer lots of 133. Play with it and I think you will find a good load with the v-maxes.

Ive had .264" 95 gr Vmaxes blow up out of a 260 Rem. No chrono data but 42.5 gr of H4350 should not push them > 3000 fps. Twist was 1/8, maybe that had something to do with it.

Still, 3 bullets blowing up out of 40 is 8%, unacceptable in my book.

thanks for the replys maybe will try a few with 29 grains of n133 would be great if i could get this load to shoot always used the v max in my 243 and would average half inch groups and worked great on foxes and crows.the test target that came with my cooper was shot with 70 grain sierra blitzkings will maybe give these a try will be able to pick some up tommorow.
am completely new to reloding the 6 ppc so am expecting alot of trial ereor the only trouble is it can get expensive.

Jack,

Be careful and work up slowly. 29 grains may be safe in one rifle and down right dangerous in another.
