Well I ripped apart on of my rifles and decided I was going full custom and it’s off at the smith now. In the process over a year or changing things around and now having ripped this one apart I have everything I need for a new build minus barrel. So I was thinking maybe doing a lighter weight carry rifle for coyotes. I have a 700 short action 223 bolt face, vls stock bedded to that action, tt diamond, factory bottom metal, just need a barrel and caliber.
I currently have a
-20 tac as my main rig (the one at the smith currently)
- a 223 as a trainer which comes out when I want it to taste blood again but it’s heavy
- 6 creed for the longer pokes.
but I wouldn’t mind more of a true back up, or when I bring a new hunter, or something easier to get in and out of the truck without worrying about the high price of a custom.
I was thinking maybe a 17 cal or smaller 20. Something like a 17 rem, 17 fireball or 17-222, or 20-222? Any suggestions or thoughts. Fur friendly?
