New build on a new stock

Put this one together a little while ago. I did this one up for Glenn Kulzer with a glued and screwed Bat B drop port. This is just a 4" wide version of my 3" wide low profile stock that been around for years (before the LRB) Its thinned out in the front, 1/2" lower than an LRB and also keeps it from getting overly stiff as well as the forend being 2" longer. The Krieger is chambered in 6BRA with the original spec reamer. I also install my rudder in these.

The next batch are another inch longer yet. Thats about all we can get out of the blanks. Getting more weight to the back bag definitely makes them track better.

Sometimes your scope objective is blocked out when some toilet paper accidentally blew in there overnight, and you gotta improvise! Lol

Actually what I was meaning is the longer radius your bag handling or other mistakes will not hurt you as much. I think you can see that.

Yeah I put extended picatinny rails on stocks for bipods. The farther forward your fulcrum balance point is, the less wobble and movement is transmitted to the muzzle. Although much less movement can be observed in the scope reticle and muzzle of the barrel when the fulcrum point is moved forward, it does not guarantee the rifle will shoot better the further forward you go. But it does allow a wider window for tuning the fulcrum to achieve a more steady shooting platform coupled with great accuracy. I have one rifle that shoots great with the bipod all the way forward on my extended picatinny rail. It is extremely stable on target and follow thru sight recovery on target is also greatly enhanced. Another rifle I have prefers the bipod being set a little further rearward for the best accuracy. But both rifles are very stable on target because they both have the bipod mounted further forward than a rifle using a bipod on the traditional forearm sling stud location. It’s a balancing act and the more fore end you have to play with for tuning the better.

Here is a custom extended pic rail I built and machined into a carbon fiber stock. Bedded into place with Marine Tex. Another advantage of the extended rail is that it allows the use of a very sturdy picatinny bag rider attachment with forward fulcrum positioning for shooting on a bench style rest. This extended rail also positions the bag rider attachment to properly contact the battery zero stop on a bench rest even though it is a Sporter style fore end.

I have a similar stock, my mistakes still hurt the same.

Do you do Trig? How much difference in a .100" movement with a 28" radius and a 30" radius at 50 or 100 yards. Cut it down to .010" movement and see that it makes a load of difference.

Sorry no I didn't to any trig calcs so nothing to report there... What the longer stock does is move the balance point back slightly with a 28 inch barrel , the rifle still recoils the same amount, the bags are not any different just further apart so I have to reach for my windage just a bit.

You wouldn't have to reach if you had a joystick. So you shoot free recoil and do not move your stock or bags?

Almost forget, the first group ever shot from the rifle was 1.7" at 1k. The barrel was a little fast so he'll need to drop down and see whats under that , but it has potential.

Ya you better, we have been lucky with this weather. I keep waiting for the switch to flip and have it drop into the negatives but it just wont do it
