McMillan can do a complete installation for you. I don't think that you will beat the finished weight.

If I was going to go with that light of a contour, I think that I would stick with a cut barrel, perhaps a Krieger.

So now the question is on a light contour why would you use a cut barrel over button barrel ??
What is the advantage of one over the other.

If you are going to shoot a bullet that might require an oddball twist rate, cut rifled. Other than that, it is nothing more than personal preference.

Pulling the button through a barrel of that type induces stress that has to be relieved before contouring. The cut barrel rifling process does not require stress relief after rifling. Beyond that Krieger cryos their stock before drilling it, which has advantages in the drilling process, in the straightness of the hole produced. In heavier contours these factors are less critical, even so, cut barrels have been dominating benchrest (short range) for some time. One thing that I would also mention is that if you are going to be using any non lead bullets, for those applications, getting a perfect match between bullet diameter and barrel groove diameter seems to be more important that with lead core bullets, probably because non lead bullets do not "slug up" in the bore like lead core bullets do. One other thing that I would mention, given the intended use of your rifle. The idea that a high velocity, long range caliber is an advantage for what you have said that you will be hunting does not match the experiences of successful coyote hunters that I have spoken with. To a man, they call them in to distances that are relatively close, usually with electronic calls, and camo. I have nothing against light rifles, but would not go with such a light contour. Sometimes I think that projects can be excessively driven by numbers that ultimately don't matter that much.
