New build 20 Ackley hornet

Nice,what platform?

Matt
That is what I was wanting to discuss with a bunch of you guys it looks like the two best ones out there or the CZ and Ruger which one would you guys recommend

And I see the only other one I can find easily would be a Savage model 25

The CZ does make a good strong setup; want to go first class, find a Cooper in Hornet.

While this is being discussed I'll throw this out for consideration. Take a look at the 5.7 Johnson/ 22 Spitfire or the Garin cartridges. These are based on the M1 Carbine brass which is better mechanically than Hornet brass and a bottle necked cartridge also. Bolt face is only a few thousandths larger than Hornet. I tried a 22 Spitfire a few years ago and won't be building any more Hornet based rifles I'm so happy with this cartridge. Forming is as simple as a light anneal of new brass and run it through your FL die. It will work nicely in the CZ (Had Calhoon do one for me) and it will work well in a Howa Mini 223 action set up for single shot. I think it would make a great little 20cal also. Give it a look.

As long as we are on the subject BAT offers the SV in a hornet bolt face,at first it may seem expensive but I promise that you would be well pleased with a BAT in the heart of your Varmint gun.I have spent a small fortune with Greg Tannel building the nicest 700 actions into wonderful coyote and pd rifles which I enjoy dearly but at the end of the day I wish I had bought more BATs with some of that money. My 20/222 Duster BAT SV #8 was well worth it to me.Lots of great choices have been mentioned here already, just looking at it from a different perspective.
I really enjoy my 19 Calhoon Ruger 77/22 Hornet too I just don’t hotrod it as much as a CZ could put up with.If you could find a Ruger#1 in hornet you sure would be set.I sure look forward to seeing what you build.

Is the bat action a single shot or a repeater

My SV is a s/s But Bruce makes repeaters too in the 700 foot print.I bet he might make you whatever you want , can’t hurt to ask :)

Do you have his contact info or his shop name I would like to ask him some questions about that setup

Matt is right on the money with his recommendation of a BAT SV Hornet bf. I've had 20 Minks in CZ and Ruger 77/22 Hornet bf's. I still prefer the BAT SV RBLP single shot for my type of shooting. It makes a dandy 20 Mink! More money, but worth it in my opinion. Check out Bruno's. They carry a lot of BAT actions in stock. Best of luck on your decision.
