New Berger Bullets

Just finished sorting 200 of the new Berger 6mm 115 gn bullets. 87% are in 3 containers with less than a .001” variance. All were measured with my Bob Green comparator. The older Berger 6mm 105gn Hunting bullets took 12 containers for me to sort 200 bullets in .001 increments. Will the new BB’s variance of .001-.003” show on paper at 500+ yds?....not with my shooting skills but it is sure fun to try and make the best ammo you can.

Nice to know this lot is better than your old one!
....but neither lot is as good as yours. The Berger’s are going to be for practice, I am counting on my Bart’s for competition. Dusty, your bullets are so consistent they leave no option but for me to to just blame the wind.... barrel....or tune. What about the obvious elephant on the keyboard?....nah

This type of thing comes up occasionally and it always seems to me that if a bullet isn’t good enough for competition then it isn’t good enough for practice. I may be wrong here but I do compete on a club level and a number of shooters at my club also compete on a National level. None of them shoots a different bullet for practice. It would seem you aren’t going to learn anything from the results. If I practice with one bullet and learn how it performs then that is what I want to compete with.

Andy, I agree with your Einstein tag line.

IMO, sucess in long & short range BR is mostly about the shooters bench set up & wind reading skills. Making the perfect ammo is a part of the best shooters process, but it is more important for the intermediate shooter to focus on tuning & learning how to read the conditions.
