New Berger 7mm bullet out??

I think the same way as XTR, it is really pretty easy to miss a one or two mph let off especially at 1000+ yds. where these should be able to reach when put in front of a 7mm RUM!

Like queen_stick said, there is no such thing as too much B.C. 8)

Re: New 195 gr 7mm bullet....

Someone mentioned a 195 gr 7mm is going to be like shooting Molboro 100's. Sure hope they group better than Molboro 100's. With such a long bullet, how fast will the barrels copper up? I believe we are approaching the point of diminishing returns. What have you gained shooting a very high BC bullet that may not group as well as the one with a little lower BC but is a real tack driver. Shooters still have to dope conditions accurately. Good bullets help, but can't do it all for you. But that's what makes this activity so interesting. Don't stop experimenting.

GOOD SHOOTING TO ALL

I'll be interested to see how the bearing surface length compares to your 7mm 189gr. That is sure a great bullet. Probably be pretty close but the Berger might be longer overall length.

I would think 3100 - 3200 should be possable with a 30 - 32 inch tube with a standard 7mm RUM and the new 195!!!

Those numbers crunch real good for LR deer!! Quite a bit better than the 230 Hybird at 3150 out of my 300 wby. And less recoil. ;D

Is it just me, or has Berger been kickin some ass the last year or so!! Way more new offerings than I have had a chance to even keep track of, let alone actually test!! ;D

How will these long bullets needing a fast twist hang together at the speed a RUM will push them at? A few people have had bullets come apart at around 3100 fps with 9" twist, what velocity will these bullets have if kept at the same rotational speed??

They took care of that issue with the VLD line up by offering regular(hunting) and thick (target) jackets. I havn't seen that with any of their BT's or Hybirds as of yet though.

Don't know how many shoot the 270, but I shot some 165 vlds with a BC of .700+ in a 270 wby. Mv-3193. 1000 v at 1900+ and using a little over 20moa to get there.Bullets were from Canada, and were nothing like ordering from state side. I called Burger in November and asked about a heavy bullet and was told that one would come out some time in the future. I for one am happy to hear this news. It lets me extend my range from 600 with the 130sst to 1000+ with the new heavy.

Well I built a rifle on my wildcat to specifically use the Barnes 195 RN, 7mm bullet. But as we all know, Barnes discontinued most of the lead core bullets. My barrel is a Pac Nor 28” SS 1:7. My wildcat is a 7mm RUM case shortened to 2.5”. Its Ballistically the same as a 7 x 300 Weatherby or 7mm STW. So it would be cool if Berger brings out a 195. Then my rig will be complete.

I ran some numbers and ballistically the 195 out performs a 285 Hornady in a .338 Lapua. Although the reaming energy at 1000 and 1760 yards favor the big 285 its only 13 an 9 percent respectively.
