New Berger 7mm bullet out??

Has any one heard a rumor that Berger has a new 7mm bullet in the works? I thought i saw somewhere that they were looking at a 195 grain bullet of some sort. Anyone??

They are coming out with a 195 grain 7mm Hybrid Hunting bullet in June or July and a 170 grain .270 Hybrid Hunting bullet slightly before the the 7mm. The 7mm bullet has an estimated G1 BC of .797.

The post I saw from Erick Stecker said 8.5 Twist for the 195 gr. If they are released on time and perform as promised, then they will potentially be game changers.

Great, Just what I needed. Another excuse to justify rebarrel of my 7mmRm.

A 195 gr berger? I shot a 168gr and though they were long. Those are going to be like shooting a marlboro 100's!

Good thing I've got an 8.7 twist and altitude on my side... It seems that the 180's are coming apart around 3100 fps. I've got to try some of these.

They are going the wrong way! I was hoping for a 168gr hybrid or even a hybrid version of the 140 grainer. Looks like people are really getting carried away with the high BC thing. I am sure they would sell a lot more 168 grainers since every barrel will be able to shoot them.

Baron B5B. I was also hoping for a 168gn Hybrid. One of these at 2950 fps out of a 284 wouldnt burn the barrel out prematurely, or recoil to bad.
The trend towards heavier and heavier bullets in the magnum cases will be good for barrel and scope makers though.

lol!

that's a high BC!

I ran a basic setup in JBM calculator with a MV of 2900fps. 10Mph wind shift at 1000yds is 41.2 inches.

compare that my 6br at 2950fps with a 105 VLD, which is closer to 65inches in the same conditions.

If I'm using my 6br, at a 1k match, vs a someone on the firing line shooting these monsters, then they'll have a huge advantage... If we both miss a 10Mph shift, my group will be 20" bigger then theirs.

I wouldn't say anyone is getting carried away with high BC's...

I look at 1MPH shifts because the reality is that not many people miss a 10, or try to shoot through a 10 MPH lift or letoff, you just wait, but the 2 mph lift or letoff you may miss, and a 1MPH is very easy to miss, so on an F class target miss a 1MPH letoff and you are still in the 10-ring with that log. That's an inch and a half better than a 7RSAUM pushing 180 VLDs at 2900. That is some good mojo if it's real.

I saw the post about these on Sniper's Hide and immediately was interested...then I remembered the farthest I have to shoot is 600yd and my 260 Rem still has north of 1000ft/lb energy at that distance with less powder & recoil than any 7mm magnum.

Got the same info from Eric and Bryan Litz today. Timing of availability seems to remain an open question pending a few hurdles yet to be cleared. The 189 Cauterucio is a great bullet so I don't see why these shouldn't do well.

All the cut-rifling makers can generally provide whatever twist you want. They are not limited to a specific twist like button rifling.

I am currently shooting a Krieger and have found them to be very consistent barrels. I also have Bartlein, Brux, Shilen, Hart, etc. They all make fine barrels but none as consistent as Krieger. YMMV

exactly my point, though I exaggerated it a bit :)
