I need a new barrel for my varmint rifle. I think I want a 12" twist. What is the groups feelings on which breed. SHILEN, BARLEIN, ???? It's going to be 22-250 AI on my Rem action.

Here is some food for thought. Why at least not consider a 1-7.5 twist barrel to shoot 75gr A-Max bullets? You could then shoot RL-16 and you MAY (not sure) extend barrel life somewhat. Besides, for shooting out past 500 yards, the added B.C. would aide greatly in the wind. If you went this route, you would have to have a throat long enough to seat the 75s out there to get above the neck / shoulder junction.I need a new barrel for my varmint rifle. It really doesn't get much better than that! Thanks for the conversation. I've been using 52gr Amax for years. When they started getting hard to find, I went to the 53gr Vmax. This is my go to rifle for varmints. Made another with a Win M70, one can cool while you use the other. Just looking for a quality barrel. View attachment 1017311
