NEW BALD EAGLE REST

Received my new Bald Eagle Rest with the windage knob right beside the elevation knob yesterday. Very disappointed in several features and equally disappointed in the response I received from the new manufacturer, Woodstock Int.when I called them. It will not accept the front bag from an original Bald Eagle. When you order it they do not give you a heads up that you need to order a different bag. A Sinclair Speed Screw will not fit the rear leg.The gentleman I spoke to at Woodstock had no idea what a speed screw was or who Sinclair was. It came missing screws.I doubt(did not try it) there is enough elevation in the rear leg screw to go top to bottem on an IBS target. The reponse received when calling Woodstock customer service was poor. I will say the response I received from Grizzly, who I bought it through, was very good. Consider well before you buy one. Kudos to Grizzly.Waiting for UPS to pick it up to go back. It may work for you, but it did not for me. Seems they needed better commumication with some bench shooters before manufacturing this rest.

Hopefully, these are just "teething" problems and will get straightened out. Bald Eagle has been in BR for many years and a trusted name. They need to understand that most BR customers are quite picky and particular. Hopefully, they get the message.

Well, their website shows a slingshot rest with a Sinclair speed screw. All they had to do was start up production on these excellent rests......not re-engineer them....if it ain't broke why fix it? This is why I'm keeping my two B.E. rests. Might as well put the Caldwell label on this Chinese redesign.

Anyone else have problems with this rest send it over to BOB PASTOR at Viper rest and let him make a real rest out of it.

I have an original Bald Eagle Sling Shot cast iron front rest and the speedscrew from Sinclair didn't fit it either.If you call Sinclair they will tell you the size of the speedscrews thread and you can run a tap through it in a single pass.One went with a standard 3/8 tap and the other went with one thread less if my memory is any good meaning it would start to work then stop on you.
A squirt of oil and a single pass was all it took to fix mine and countless others.Alot of shooters would simply muscle the speedscrew into place and leave it figuring it was a tight squeeze but there was actually a difference and Sinclair can help you out.

There are three new models of rests. Two of them BE1004 and BE1005 are aluminum body and the BE1006 is cast iron. The cast iron one (that you bought) has 1/2" x 13TPI threaded holes for heavy duty feet. The Aluminum ones have th 3/8" x 16 TPI feet which is common on many rests & will accept the Sinclair speed screw which is also 3/8" x 16 TPI.

These Bald Eagle Rests are actually much more precise than the old ones and are made with CNC machined parts for absolute precision. They have been redseigned and the parts are not meant to be interchangeable with the old ones. If any parts fit, it would be a coincidence.

All rests are sold with front bags as optional and these bags are available from us. The front bags we sell are made for us by SEB and are also top quality. It is unfortunate that you sent the rest back without actually using it as you would have been pleasantly surprised. I have tested these myself and had a huge hand in redesigning them and bringing them forward. We will eventually develop speed screws for both sizes, but until then if customers are wanting to interchange parts from different rests, that may be frustrating.

The two aluminum body ones do take the Sinclair speed screw if you so feel inclined.

Here is my new Bald Eagle cast iron sling shot rest. It took 6 months to arrive. It is quite well made for the money. Here are the modifications I have made so far:

1. I reversed the sliding windage plate so the threaded pusher is on the left and the springs are on the right. I removed the silly cable assembly and cut the threaded end off. I cut a 5/16-18 thread on the piece I cut off so their knob will mount. I am impressed with how smooth the windage plate moves.

2. I mounted my 3" Protektor Square Ear bag. The angled side pieces will move out to accept the 5-3/4" Protektor bag if you remove one attaching screw from each side piece. The 2" channel width will accept the 2-1/4" wide Protektor bag.

3. I removed the thumbscrew from the forend stop and replaced it with a set screw because the thumbscrew interfered with the mariners wheel.

I am planning to bush the hole in the rear leg so it will accept a Sinclair 1/2-20 speed screw.

I really like the rack and pinion gross height adjuster. It is easy to add height even with a rifle in the rest.
