New AR-15 Receiver Block I Bought

So I needed a upper receiver block to change barrels, receivers and what not.. I came across this one, and it looks like a gem to me. Even doubles as a bore guide for cleaning rods. Cnc machined aluminum? $25 out the door shipped. Cheaper than the junk out there on the market. I like solid, not hinges, plastic, yada yada... Ill provide feedback once I use it if anyone is curious. Found it looking at youtube videos of it.

Good idea. Clamp in vise too.
My store bought bore guide is drilled crooked one way straight other way. 2 stubborn to buy another one. Of course i wouldnt remember needing one if it was in my hand at the gun shop.
Doh!
Merry Christmas all!

Man that looks like a quality piece

We will see. I like the idea of a receiver block inside the receiver, and pins in the pin holes vs a wrap around plastic block. Not to mention the block goes in a vice instead of the action getting crunched. Mitigate the flex of it all better I think... not to mention doubling as a bore guide. If it work as I think it may in my head thinking about it, it may be pretty awesome.

I agree and now have on on order. What I like it works with the heavy wall upper receivers as well. And I learned my lesson the hard way about not using a reaction rod for tightening the barrel nut....

What happened using the reaction rod?

What happened using the reaction rod?

Sheared the locator pin right off. When I called WOA to explain my problem, the agent there said, don't every tighten the barrel nut using the reaction rod. The locator pin is the only thing resisting the torque. I was only around 30 foot lbs. when I felt it shear. And yes, I know they are advertised for tightening barrel nuts.

Since then I learned, when you are tightening the barrel nut, always hold the upper, when you are attaching something to barrel, hold the barrel.

I put my Magpul armorers wrench horizontal in a bench vise, put the upper in it vertically with the muzzle downward, insert the reaction rod down through the upper receiver and then torque the barrel into the barrel nut. Next to no pressure on the locating pin.
I was always worried about holding the upper while torquing the barrel nut. The Brownells reaction rod is the next best thing to sliced bread.

How well I know that feeling sir!!!!! I tell people, "it's not the age, it's the mileage".... Have a safe and happy New Year!!!
