new bill calls for home inspection of gun owners
One of the major gun-control efforts in Olympia this session calls for the sheriff to inspect the homes of assault-weapon owners. The bill’s backers say that was a mistake.

Here in Austria the police control the storage of semi automatic firearms, pistols and revolvers all 5 years. When the firearms are not stored correctly or when another person is able to reach the guns (children, wife), the gun owner lost the license and the guns.
When the gun owner get a judicial penalty of more than 2 month, when he come in a menthal clinic or when he show an act of violence, he lost his firearms license and the police confiscate all guns.
To get a license to own semi automatic firearms and pistols, a psychiatric report, a clean reputation and a firearms training evidence is necessary.
And this strict laws are "not enough" for the doo-gooders here in Austria.
Before 1996 the Austrian gun laws were very liberale. Only pistols and revolvers were registrated. Rifles, semi auto rifles etc were free without registration for persons >18 years.
Here is a nice statistik. There was no significant effect on the murder statistik because since 1991 - years before our new strict laws - the murder rate drop constant.
But what happend 1991 ? The DNA analyse was introduced and perhaps discouraged some potentially murders.
In Austria less than 5% are murdered with a legal firearm - more than 60% are murdered with a knife.
In europe we have a lot of experience with "gun control".
Adolf Hitler has introduced the first "gun control" and licenses for firearms. All guns must be registrated.
And after all guns were registrated, the Nazis start 1938 to disarm all juds, member of the opposition, homosexual and arrest them in concentration camps - without any significant resistance.
It`s realy interessting, that homo sapiens is not teachable.
