new action

hey guys,has anyone built up a rifle on the action available from 10X Custom Rifles?? Looks awful good and the price isn`t that bad either......

I'd not heard of this company before, but that doesn't mean squat anymore. I took a look at their website and it shows to be a very favorable business indeed. They wouldn't have lasted as long as they have if they were duds. Their pricing is also very nice and apparently know what they're doing when they build actions themselves. I can't say how those actions compare with say a Hall or Turbo, but 10x's pricing will save you a bundle if they build shooters. Now I have no idea (or didn't look for barrel pricing) how much they sell those barrels for or even their make. But if they build rifles for competition, again they must be using quality barrels or else their rifles wouldn't sell based on comparisons of the overall prices charged nowaday for a nice custom rig that wins comps. If I had the bucks, I'd be real tempted to give them a shot. Just my thoughts.

I talked to a fellow named Bill there today and he was very imformative bout their actions as I want a L/L action and he says that he`ll be running some in about 4 months so I`m on the list..He makes 2 style actions,,one with a 40x footprint and the other with a Turbo print..I looked at Halls but he will not make a left bolt action,,checked with another one out east,,can`t remember the name now,,nice action but not for $1150..But for the price on this I`m in.....

Sounds to me like you've found what you are looking for. Alan Hall builds beautiful actions for people who have the bucks and are serious about competing. I shoot with a friend who has one and used to compete so I've seen first hand how nicely they are built and shoot, especially when Dan Lilja mounted the barrel . But since I fit neither category, I'd give 10X a try for sure. Perhaps it's all a matter of not having have enough exposure in advertsizing and hopefully they'll build you exactly what you seek. Now comes the agony of waiting for the four months to go by. Heck I'm coming up on a nine month wait on a 6.5 build so I know the fun first hand. Good part is it'll go by in a flash. Just make sure you have the barrel you want in your hand or on order because most of the top barrel manufacturers, except for Hart, are on a 4 - 5 month waiting period. Let us know when that new build of yours is done so we can take a looksee and gloat.
