New 6BR Shooter In Need Of Advice

I'm new to the 6br game, but I'm shooting Bart's 68g bullets right now. I started with Hornady's 58gr bullets which it seem to like, but that was all I had available when I got the rig together and ready for the first range trip. I've got a 24" Shilen 8 twist, bullets make it to the target at 200yds so far. LOL Using H335 powder right now.
What kind of groups are you getting with the 68 gr Barts bullets. I have a ton of those. If you don't mind telling me, what powder and load are you using? Do you know the velocity you are getting?

Just did a 200y ladder last week, and narrowed it down to about 3 charges (.3 gr jumps), loaded up some last night with H335 starting at 28.1, thru 28.6g. One charge of the 3 was a bit higher than the low/mid 28g charges, but still shot close to this range, so I'm testing this range first. No speeds yet as I use a Magneto Speed and wait until I find the load. My barrel seems to prefer book OAL recommendations, was getting sooty cases when I shot some test loads at longer OAL.

Just got back from the range. I installed Leupold 45 power scope yesterday and used the neighbors house to bore site it. First shot aiming point was the gray circle. 1 1/8 inches from aim point. I adjusted the scope and used the same point of aim and wound up with a .312 first shot group. Thes are 3 shot groups testing the bullets and powder, Nine groups avg .220. Not too shabby from a brand new rifle. Lapua brass, 30.3 gr of Varget CCI small rifle primers Lapua 105 Senea bullets.

First I want to thank Keith Weil AKA Cigarcop. This is one really terrific gunsmith and a real gentleman. I can't say enough good things about Keith.

Next I want to thank all those who offered me advice on load information. I had no idea of where to start.

Wow Nick that’s Great! Congratulations on making it come all together.

Most of my questions have been answered and I thank you all and especially those who took the time to PM me.

My remaining question is bullets. My Bartlein barrel is 28in with a 1/8 twist. Now I may have made a mistake in the barrel and only time will tell. I can only shoot at 100yds. Shooting at longer distances would require a long trip and at 85 years old, that is something I don't look forward to.

I have read threads that suggest bullets in the 100gr +/- bullets and others suggesting 68gr works well in this twist rate. I find that hard to believe but I guess it is possible.

So, what do you experienced guys shoot?
Sierra 107 moly's in a 1-8 29" Broughton and its a laser.

Looks like those Scenars are working!

Request: Could you provide a link to this target? It's a variation on the Load Dev target I created years ago, but with two rows instead of the one row in my layout:

I would like to publish this on our targets page, if Nick Caprinolo agrees.

Here is the target I created. You can see the heritage (even down to the thicker horizontal lines, done on purpose):

Boss, just so everyone knows, as per our PM, I agree and am glad you think others may be interested in using it. Please make whatever alterations you think appropriate. It is a descendent from your design.
