New 6br die choice

Both of my new competition rifles are almost finished. Both no turn 6br, chambered by Billy Stevens. One 8tw the other 12tw. He used the same reamer on both rifles.

I planning on sending Harrell’s fired cases and getting a fl sizing die, both rifles have brass 2x fired and are within .01 in head space.

my question is if Harrell’s determines I would use the same die for both rifles what item would you chose to change shoulder bump if needed.

Pma die adjuster, whidden click die ring(or even just send the brass to whidden) Redding comp shell holders.

Forster Precision Bushing Bump Die
Redding Body die.
Bump the shoulder/size the neck.
Use body die when the case starts getting snug on bolt closing.
Probably won't need case trimming for a loooong time.
I've got 20+ reloads on mine using the above with no case trimming needed.
Nothing but a bug hole shooter.(boring after a while);)
YMMV.

I have body dies currently, wanting to move to a semi custom die, Harrell’s or whidden

Because you want to reload two different chambers simultaneously, you might invest in the Redding comp shell holders instead of the whidden or PMA die ring. Just change shellholders to switch between chambers.

Hi Cory,

Your having a 6MM BR and having 2 barrels, a 8 and a 12 twist, All I can say is very nice.

I tried the Redding Competition shell holders. They didn't work with my die providing additional bump.

The Whidden Universal Click Adjustable Lock Ring is made for using the same die and bumping to different sizes. You may want to give whidden a call if you decide to go with the Harrrels Sizing Die.

or...
I would suggest you buy a second shell holder and have .010 removed from the top of it. Removing .010 will allow the die to be adjusted so as to bump the shoulder as needed. If I remember correctly a redding shell holder is 0.125 from the top of the shell holder to the base where the brass sits. The competition shell holders a 5 shell holder set are 0.127 - 0.135 in .002 increments.

Toby yea,

I probably should of said that differently.
I would not think it would be 0.010 different, just taking 0.010 off the top of the shell holder gives you the flexibility to adjust as needed. I didn't think of the Skips die shims, excellent suggestion.

A dedicated shell holder? What a novel idea.:D

Chuck shell holder up in a drill press, face down, measure first then, run it down on a well oiled sharpening stone. Measure again till you get it where you want it.
Been there done that. ;) Mark it so you don't mix it up with the standard shell holders. Works like a champ AND, looks factory made.

I haven’t tried a Widden but the PMA /Harrell’s works well, easy to adjust & sneak up a bit at a time
