New 6br build

Might sound odd but I have decided to shoot a straight 6br exclusively. A couple “tactical” mag fed setups and a BR setup. To busy to mess with different calibers unfortunately

I have a Borden repeater in 6br in an AICS chassis setup for long range target punching and am in the process of building a “PRS” style gun that can be shot off a bipod, hunt with if needed and overall a more compact more practical gun.

Insert a Borden Apline pictured below, I’m going to run a 103-108g style bullet with a HV/MTU contour barrel. More thank likely gonna grab a suppressor as well

Couple hang ups I’m having I thought some of you would know,
1. How short would you run a barrel shooting heavy 6mm bullets
2. If running a shorter barrel say 20-24in would you go 7 or 8 twist
3. Any gunsmith recommendations these days

Any advice welcome

I have a bunch of 20.5” hunting rifles and I’m very happy with them. That Diligent Defense Wolf Hunter is sure nice on a BR as well.

That’s the suppressor I’ve been looking at. Still getting comparable velocities as a 26in barrel or is it a big drop at 20.5 with or without can

Very little difference. I’ve even got a good friend shooting a 12” Dasher and he’s breaking 3,000 with H4895 and 87s

20” is perfect for a rifle that actually sees time in the field.

Good idea.

Seems you don't need a gunsmith. Just a barrel.

Seems the Borden action I got has an aftermarket recoil lug for the bedding job. Jim said this action will not interchange barrels
