I appereciate your interest.
Conditions were excellent but there were no great targets shot, a missed oppertunity by those of us who shot the match.
I had intended to get a copy of the results before leaving the match but it slipped my mind when I left. Historically Jeremy has been a little slow in getting the results out. I will put more effort into getting a copy of the results and post them after future matches.

You could contact Jeremy Millard at Hornady if you are really interested in the results, they really should have been posted by now.
Just a reminder, all remaining matches will be SOY points matches.

Ok here is the results in pdf format of the April 26 match. As I said conditions were good but no-one took advantage of them.
Looks like you guys from South Dakota need to come down and teach us how to shoot :)

Thanks James
You are most welcome.
When I emailed Jeremy to enquire about the results he mentioned that a few that normally shoot at Ft. Pierre would be coming the 24th, Any chance you will make it. I would sure like to see you there, well then again :D

James;

The ten day forecast for Grand Island is showing 60% chance of showers on Friday and Saturday. Any chance of cancelation due to weather??

Need to know before requesting time off

I see on the website that the benches are well covered, the concern would be the ability to hang and retrieve targets without rutting up the roads excessivly.

I hadn’t given that much thought.
I’ll start by saying that there is always the possibility of a rainout but the likelihood is not very high.
The firing line is covered so the rain shouldn’t interfere with the shooters.
The 3 ways that it could cause problems are
1 Mud making it difficult to setup wind flags.
2 Rain heavy enough to reduce visibility too much to see the targets.
3 Rain too heavy to set up targets.

NWS says according to one model it could be cooler with intermittent rain and another model says warmer with a possibility of thunderstorms, in which case the rain would come in the evening rather than in the morning.

I had forgotten that it will be Memorial weekend in which case precipitation is more common than not but it is usually Sunday and Monday.

I also have a private forecaster looking at it and I think he will have something for me this evening. I’ll post back if I find out more.

Having said all that if you will only make one match I would recommend the State match in July.
Here is a blurry image of the left side of the firing line.

We did have some light rain at the last match but it didn’t start to really come down until right at the end of the match.

Not much additional info but my weatherman is pretty good so I thought I’d include what he has to say:

"Too early to see anything definite that far out. Now it looks ok temp wise, rain is iffy, maybe windy. Will know more later on."

Looks like he is playing down the precipitation potential a little compared to the NWS.

For anyone interested here is a link to hourly weather forecast conditions at Grand Island, NE.

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Grand+Island&state=NE&site=GID&textField1=40.9218&textField2=-98.3659&e=0&FcstType=graphical

It looks like typical crappy Nebraska wind.

Just thought I'd throw this out for those interested.

It does look like chances of rain are improving but every effort will be put foreward to hold the match as I know there are some who have commited to attend that are traveling considerable distance.

Next match is this Saturday June 14.
The weather forcast is a high of 84°, light winds 5 to 8 mph and partly cloudy. In Nebraska those winds are almost what you would call dead calm.:D

Hope some of you can make it.
This match is also scheduled as a SOY match.
For you guys that know the Hornady people Joe says he will be shooting this match, so come and woop up on him:).

Not to nit pick but the good Mr Schatz is from North Dakota. The wind blows just a lil harder there then in the Bannana belt of South Dakota. : ) Just kidding.

Gotta tell ya little story.
Before our match last month I had never met Mr. Schatz. I had heard of him and knew of his 600 yd IBS group record last year and that he is an excellent competitor. I thought that he was from North Dakota but had only heard of him shooting at Ft. Pierre.
Now this is telling tails out of school but it adds to why I was so impressed to have Richard come and shoot at Grand Island. When I met with the Hornady boys to set up this shoot we were discussing what to do in regard to getting more shooters. I said I think that if they are SOY matches we will have a better chance of getting some shooters from Pierre to come and shoot here. Now I am sure that Joe Thielen intended this as a satirical comment, but he said yea and you will get shooters to come like Richard Schatz and they will win everything and you’ll be out of luck. My immediate thought was, yes that is exactly what I am hoping for, which is why I was so excited when Richard first showed interest in shooting at Heartland at the last match.
I also want to say that Richard is one heck of a nice guy, I really enjoyed talking to him and I look foreword to competing with him again.
I don’t want to take anything away from any of the other shooters but for me it was really special to get to compete with Mr. Schatz last month.
Hope to see some of you this weekend.
I hope to also make to the Ft. Pierre match the 21st. My luck ain’t been worth a darn on getting to other matches but hopefully it’s just a Byers, CO bad carma thing and I'll be allowed to make it to South Dakota.

Again thank you Glen, Aaron, Richard, Jeff, Mike, Tracy, John, and Jeremy for making the last match.
I am hoping that since this isn’t Memorial weekend we will have better attendance this weekend.

Match 3 Results.
Attached are the results for June 14 Match 3 at the Heartland Public Shooting Park/ Nebraska Benchrest Shooters.
I would really rather not post them as I shot horribly this week but here they are.

Richard sorry you were unable to make it this week, I hope to see you next weekend at Ft. Pierre.:thumb:
