I had a older Savage LA that I had in a Choate stock that had been steel bedded, I bought a new takeoff model 12 26" varmint barrel in 6.5 CM and installed it. I cleaned the barrel good, still had light grease in it. I shot 20 various hit or miss and got it pretty close to zeroed, and then cleaned it again. First load with H 4350 and 95 gr V max put 5 rounds into .380 c to c, next 5 rounds with the same load was a little tighter. Then I shot 2 5 rd groups with the same bullet and Varget, groups tightened up, both groups were duplicates, and .290 was the average. I am going to shoot some more of them to verify, and then start on some 123 SST's for deer hunting, about all I am going to shoot this gun for, varmint and deers, but it sure is a sweet shooter in the big old clubby Choate stock.
