New 6.5-284 help

I have a new custom shop encore bbl in 6.54-284 I have some base idea how to load, I have a 280ai and it shoots fantastic. Doe's any one have load info using 130 accubonds or ballistic tips the bbl will be used for long range hunting out west mostly mules.

"mostly mules", ??? If you are shooting mules I can tell you that 130 Accubonds do indeed work on feral horses. I haven't shot any horses with my 6.5x284 but I have with my 260. I used a stout load of Ramshot Hunter in the 260. I have loaded the 130s in the 6.5 but no horses yet. I use R22 and H4350 with the 130s in the 6.5 at about 3090 fps.

If you are determined to shoot 130grainers, you should give the Barnes 130 TSX in 6.5 a try. VERY accurate out of my 6.5 Sweed. VERY, and out of the little 21" barrel they're running 2835fps with a good dose of N160. I'm sure your 284 will sling 'em harder than that. Should be just the ticket for a "mule". Good luck.

I shoot 52.5 grains of H-4831SC, 210m primer,Lapua brass and 139 Lapua Scenars and or 142 SMKs Thats a pretty stout load you might want to start around 50.0 and work up from there.

I Shoot 54Gr's Of RL22 and 130 TSSX's Out of a 22" Lija Tube. Getting 2989FPS. Haven't Shot Any Mulies. But Did Take One Nice 5x5 Elk. I'd Start Around 50 And Work up.... Safe in Mine, But May not Be In Yours. Good Luck

IHO I dont think you will have any problem dropping a mulie buck with that round using 130gr tsx. the speeds are real close to .264mag and guys are dropping big deer with those. so i dont think you have any problem at all. shoot I no a guy that killing them with a 25-06 with a lighter bullet.
