New 30BR Shilen Action

Shilen is a pleasure to work with, I ordered this through the gun store I kind of work for, Shilen told me from 2 months to 4 I think , well 2 months to the day it was shipped, I got the DGR action, I wanted right bolt right port, the Single shot doesn't offer that, I put one of those adapters on it to use it as single in the McMillan I got for it, I had them shoulder a HV#7 measures 1.250 and is 25 inches, 1/17 twist and Shilen Trigger. It came in last Friday, so I then bedded it, waited until yesterday to shoot it, ran 10 rounds down it cleaned it, ran another 10 rounds of some cheaper speer TNT 125 gr bullets, cleaned it everything looked good, today loaded my good bullets, some Cheeks 118-9, with 34.4 gr of 4198, .005 jump, shot 200 yards two 5 shot groups both right at .270 moa about .556 inch. So far for the first 30 rounds I am very pleased with it, looking foward to the first match, I have my other 30BR from last year only shot one season it has maybe 800 rounds down it, it is a Trued Savage target action with Krieger HV, 1,17 twist, it shoots 1/4 moa, it has a rifle basic trigger I set at 1.5 oz, might sell it, my brass worked good in the new one from the savage Bruno built the savage for me, he used Robinette reamer as did Shilen, I bumped the shoulder back exactly .003 and perfect fit.

Try jamming the Cheeks at least ten thousands or more. You might be surprised in the results. Have Fun!

Yes the 30 Br is just a blast to shoot it is my favorite , next is the 6br, I am considering in the future to try 6ppc, and I do plan on trying a jam on my next break in, what is so good about the 30BR , you just go buy a pound of 4198, put the bullet just about anywhere and it shoots sub moa and sub 1/2 moa, you just can't beat that.
