New 284

Thought I would post up a couple pics of the new 284. She started life as a "J" locker in 30/06. Since then she has had a new firing pin assy,a Holland lug,a truing,a Shilen #4 pipe,the factory trigger smoothed up and lightened,Leupold double dovetails epoxied and lapped,and bedded in a B&C Medalist M40 A1 stock. Range trip scheduled for Wed afternoon. Hee Hee oh boy 8) .

Made it out to the range this afternoon. I should have waited for better conditions,but hey a new rifle can't be sitting around collecting dust. Know what I mean? Anyhow. here is a target of 150gr Hornady V-Max. The mirage was terrible and the wind was being a pain as well. Gusty and nearly dead right /left. I didn't get too far with the session as the 7828 short cut and 160gr Partitions showed preasure signs early and had to be abandoned. The RL19 was more forgiving. I expect better results next trip.

Are you running straight .284 Win brass or necked up 6.5-.284 brass?

I just noticed I wrote "mag" primer on the target. Nope,just a straight Winchester primer. Been working with the 300 Ultra a lot lately and noted the wrong primer for the 284. Hey if you're gonna be stupid,show it I always say.
