new 223 brass or once fired?

If you buy new LC 5.56 brass and shoot it, it is now once fired brass, right? Is there a reason for buying new brass instead of once fired?
Personally, I would only use pre-fired brass if I know it came from my chambers, specifically 5.56 and from a semi. Also, for the purposes of not having to ream the crimp out of the fired primer pocket, go with the new. If 5.56 brass is your fancy, it should last quite a few reloads, depending how you treat it.

It was only super beneficial to buy it labeled as once fired when you could get 1000 pcs for 90$ with free shipping! I'd end up with sometimes 25 extras in an order, so that was less than 9cents a piece. Sadly, those days are gone..

i have been able to find a few local guys selling .223, 9mm and .45acp who get local sheriffs range pickup. this has so far been a great deal. all of the brass has been fired in semi auto rifles/pistols on clean ranges. the guys reselling have kept pretty fair prices. i started out paying $20/1k 9mm, $35/1k45 and $35/1k 223. they have since gone up but still very fairly priced. believe last i paid was $35/1k 9mm and 223 was 60 or so.
