Howdy !
First off, I DK what live game you may be after ?
But, let me run some thougths past you....
I made a .22-35 Rem wildcat some 30yr ago, shot it over 25 yrs
I too, started w/ a 1-14" twist; with intent to shoot 55gr bullets on live groundhog.
H380 is too fast a powder for the 22-6mm. It was also too fast in my 22-35, so I say what I say w/ confidence.
Best load was 41.2gr WW760 Hornady 55 SX FED LR Magnum Match
Alternate load was * 41.6gr VV160 55 "V"_MAX Fed LR Mag Match
* The above load got me into the 500yd club. When I finally connected @ 500, I was stupified at how relatively easy it was; and having succeeded w/ the same 24" 1-14 rifle I had been shooting for 23yr.
That got me thinking about a 1,000yd attempt on groundhog.
I re-barrelled to a 28" 1-8 SS K & P 5-groove .224" cal.
Again, I chambered in .22-35Rem, but throated for 75 "A"-Max.
My math showed that I would be able to put 450ft lb on a groundhog, out to 966yds. That would be good for a clean-kill @ 1,000yd. I never did get to try that 1,000yd groundhog shot.
However, my load for the above numbers was:
40.5gr AA3100 75 "A"-Max Fed LR Match @ 3,420fps,Accuracy)
" " " " Fed LR Magnum Match @ 3,500fps
And, I could still shoot groundhogs @ distances like 200yd
and not shoot-through.
My point:
Why not barrel w/ a 1-8 or faster twist, and preserve the capability to launch 75+ gr bullets ?
The 22-6mm is highly capable. Why not exploit that capability
by utilizing a fast-twist .224" cal barrel to provide and
all-aspect rifle ? 0 - 1,000yd capability.
Additionally, the expansion ratio of your proposed barrel
and chamber combo coupled w/ the ligher .224" cal bullets the
1-14 twist would require; portend a barrel burning set up.
Barrels ain't cheap.
At any rate, the .22-35 wiidcat data should give you some notion
that the powders you require will be even slower than WW760, H414; and I4350. More like AA3100, RL-19, I 4831; et al.
Best of luck in your endeavors.
