David Tubb sent me some samples of new production Norma 6XC Brass to test. This new run of brass is said to be harder than the previous batch. This new brass is reported to have a head hardness that exceeds Lapua 6.5X47 brass and a body wall runout of of less than 0.001". The new brass retains the large primer pocket. Subsequent production runs are supposed to be to the new standards. SSS expects to start shipping this brass in March 2007.
I would not know how to scientifically test the hardness. I sized this brass to 6X47 Lapua since I want to compare similar cartridges and I am more familiar with that round.
I started with 40 grs of H4350, 105 gr Scenars, and GM210M primers. 3190 fps in the new Norma brass, 30 fps greater than the same load in the Lapua cases, no pressure signs, shot pretty well too, I only shot one group at 100 yds off a Harris bipod, it was 0.108", I've included a picture on this post. Not bad for the first load. I shot the remaining rounds at a distance, 700 to 1000 yards. They shot as well as the 6X47 Lapua rounds. I would start well below this load in your rifle and work up if you are inclined to use this information.
All anecdotal information but it looks like Norma/Tubb may have leaped ahead of Lapua in this size cartridge, appears to be stronger brass, tighter tolerances, and no burrs in the flash hole. I think this brass may be hard to beat. Can't wait to get some more.
